The aging Sagamore and Bourne Bridges are more than just infrastructure—they are lifelines for Cape Cod. Built nearly 90 years ago, these bridges are functionally obsolete and long past their expiration date. Their continued deterioration poses a serious threat to our economy, safety, and way of life. This is no longer a matter of convenience; it is an existential issue for Cape Cod.
The Cape and Islands Bridges Coalition (CIBC) has been at the forefront of advocating for the replacement of these vital structures. Recent polling conducted jointly with the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS reveals overwhelming community awareness and support. An impressive 87% of registered voters on Cape Cod are aware of the efforts to replace the bridges, and 86% support this crucial initiative. Our community understands the urgency—now, we need our decision-makers to act.

In early February 2025, Amanda Catania, Director of Tourism Sales, traveled to Philadelphia to attend the American Bus Association’s (ABA) Marketplace. The event brought together tourism professionals from across the country, and Amanda was excited to be part of a strong delegation from Massachusetts and Cape Cod. While in Philadelphia, Amanda held 54 appointments with tour operators, bus companies, and other key industry professionals, all while promoting Cape Cod as an ideal destination for motorcoach groups.
Amanda participated in several educational sessions, gaining valuable insights into the latest trends in the motorcoach industry. She also took advantage of networking opportunities during social events, connecting with industry leaders and fellow Chamber members. Amanda's efforts at ABA Marketplace are expected to help drive more motorcoach business to Cape Cod in the coming years.
Next, Amanda will head to Hartford, Connecticut, for the Connecticut Golf Show from March 21-23, 2025, where she’s eager to showcase the region’s outstanding golf courses, hotels, and restaurants.
