To commemorate the 25^th anniversary of 9/11, the City of Cape Coral, Cape Coral Fire Department, and Cape Coral Police Department will host a remembrance ceremony on Friday, September 11 in front of City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., beginning at 8:30am.

The ceremony will include the presentation of colors by Cape Coral Fire and Police Honor Guards, a moment of silence, an invocation, and brief remarks by City leaders reflecting on the significance of that tragic day in our Nation’s history. After the presentation, attendees will stake 2,977 American flags, each with a name of a victim of the attacks, in the lawn in front of City Hall to honor their memory and reaffirm that “We Will Never Forget.”

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

The City of Cape Coral has been selected as the winner of the Water Conservation Award by the Florida Irrigation Society Water Summit for the development of the City's new water conservation ordinance. This award honors the city's efforts to conserve Florida's water resources.

The water conservation ordinance focuses on water management, efficiency, and conservation challenges due to population growth and recurring severe drought conditions. The ordinance mandates water-efficient irrigation systems with a minimum 70% efficiency. Systems must follow manufacturer specifications for optimal coverage and efficiency.

"This ordinance represents an important step toward responsible water management and long-term sustainability for Cape Coral," said Jeff Pearson, Cape Coral's Utilities Director. "We appreciate everyone who contributed their knowledge and perspective to help develop practical conservation measures that will benefit our community for years to come." The City of Cape Coral is honored to receive this recognition.
