CTE NEWSLETTER

May/June 2023

The 2023 Capilano University Teaching and Learning Symposium was an activity packed three-day event which has left us filled with inspiration as we move into the Summer term and continue planning for the next academic year. We’d like to thank all of those from across the CapU community who presented, facilitated, shared, and participated both online and in person!

As you take time to reflect, rest, and plan for the year ahead, we encourage you to plan ahead for our upcoming workshops and reach out to us to plan your departmental PD for the 23-24 academic year!

Recap: 2023 Capilano University Teaching and Learning Symposium

The 2023 Teaching and Learning Symposium was attended by over 100 faculty, students and staff over three days of events and activities. The symposium’s first day was held online via Zoom, followed by two days, May 3-4, of activity in the Library building.

Our keynote speakers Peter Felten and Sally Willis-Stewart, and the Teaching Excellence Award recipients, inspired symposium participants to reflect on what embedding a focus on health and well-being in our teaching practice could look like.

A unique feature of the symposium this year was the quiet reading/reflection space with books made readily available to participants. Thank you to all our presenters, facilitators, and partners who helped to make the symposium a success!

If you were a presenter at this year’s Symposium, please consider sharing your presentation to the Capilano University Library’s Institutional Repository. Contact Sabrina Wong, Scholarly Communications and Copyright Librarian if you have any questions about the repository.
