CTE NEWSLETTER
February 2022
This month, in the whirlwind of Omicron and pivoting yet again to a return to campus, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on some of your successes over the past two years and consider how your experiences may have shaped your teaching practices and philosophy. We also invite you to join us for an upcoming workshop, for example during reading break (February 22nd - 25th), for the new Intercultural Pedagogy and Learning or for the well-established Instructional Skills Workshop, both part of our new Certificate in University Teaching and Learning.

Teaching (Philosophy) During Uncertain Times
What specific practices have we done or offered to our students through the pandemic (to try to mitigate the drawbacks of “emergency remote teaching”) to maintain and strengthen our learning relationships? With a return to in-person classroom teaching, rather than discard these successes, how can we incorporate these practices into our teaching philosophy at CapU?
Now that the uncertainty of the pandemic has made us pose these questions, take a moment to consider your hard work, successes, and challenges from the last two years. Make what you have learnt from this experience central to your teaching philosophy and practices going forward. Read more…

Adding video recordings to your course site? Remember to upload them to CapU’s streaming video service, Kaltura rather than directly to your eLearn page to avoid slowing down the loading of your page. Streaming video has the added advantage of adapting to a student’s bandwidth providing a much quicker playback.

For more on using Kaltura, check out our Kaltura channel of instructional videos.
