Capital Campaign Update
February 2021

In so many ways the earliest days of 2021 seem to be ushering in the sights and sounds of change. Where 2020 was a time pause and uncertainty, 2021 has already offered up scenes of instability, promise and difference: the recent attack on our nation’s Capitol, Covid vaccines being distributed and administered, a new President sworn into office. And as if in direct reflection of our time, we can see these qualities within the spaces of our church: walls are being torn down, interior partitions erected, hard hats donned and building protections put in place. Change is underway, but underlying all of it is the stable ground that is Montview, our spiritual home and center.
As you might have seen in our weekly update videos, selective demolition has begun and many walls now bear the “demo” marking. The stage in the Miller Center has been broken down and the cash match grant from Historic Denver and the State Historic Fund will be used, in part, on window and plaster restoration. For a sneak peak at some of the work that's being done inside the building, watch this brief video.

Painting in the Sanctuary has been completed and the space looks bright, fresh and restored. Scaffolding has been dismantled and protective plastic sheets lifted off the pews. Just a few weeks ago, floor candelabras lined the center aisle and white poinsettias accentuated the richly colored Advent paraments. The space itself seemed to celebrate the light of Christ coming into the world and we were excited to be able to share it with you.
In addition to the Sanctuary, upgrades to the elevator have also been completed. The door component has been fixed and new stainless-steel finishing and flooring has been installed. A final inspection has been performed and the device is in safe, working order.

Behind the scenes, Colarelli Construction has been busy recruiting talented and local contractors to join the project team. Due to an overwhelming response to bid invitations, a second job walk was performed and the initial bid date was extended in November. With bids now received, Colarelli Construction is reviewing the pricing and scope for each proposal. A guaranteed maximum price, or GMP, is being compiled for review and discussion with the Building Committee.

In addition to this, there is steady progress being made on the building permit. All permit review comments have been addressed by Tyrba Architects.

If you’d like to see our latest update from Vince Colarelli, Montview's Owner’s Representative/Project Manager, be sure to watch our Town Hall and Congregational Meeting which took place on November 8. You can access the full video by clicking here.

As we look back on the past year, many things will stand out that have made it both memorable and significant. One of them will be the care and stewardship that, with your help, we’ve been able to show our spiritual home and center. Transformation that is taking place now will bear rich fruits for all of us in the year to come.
