A Shared Economic Agenda for the National Capital Region

It was a productive morning on Monday, September 28 with the National Capital Region Caucus as the Ottawa Board of Trade brought together business, tourism, education, and community partners from across the National Capital Region for a substantive discussion about the opportunities shaping our future.

At the heart of this work is advancing Ottawa-Gatineau as one economic region, with a coordinated approach to growth, investment, and competitiveness. This meeting demonstrated the value of aligning our priorities and speaking with a stronger collective voice.

Thank you to Caucus Chairs the Hon. Mona Fortier and the Hon. Greg Fergus for your leadership and engagement, to our partners who presented so effectively on behalf of the group, and to everyone who contributed.

We have strong momentum and important work ahead. Stay tuned next week for a summary of what was discussed in the meeting.

Ottawa's Next Chapter: An Economic Leaders Panel

October 6, 2026 | Ottawa Art Gallery

What does Ottawa need to compete, grow, and prosper in the years ahead?

With Election Day approaching, Ottawa’s business and economic leaders, candidates, and community leaders will come together on October 6 for Ottawa’s Next Chapter: An Economic Leaders Panel - an important conversation about the priorities that will shape our city’s economic future.

Moderated by David Coletto, Founder and CEO of Abacus Data, the discussion will feature:

  • Megan Cornell, Associate General Counsel at General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada
  • Michael Crockatt, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism
  • Kelly Rhodenizer, Senior Vice President, Development at Colonnade BridgePort

Together, they’ll explore competitiveness, infrastructure, housing, talent, downtown renewal, investment, growth, and what Ottawa needs to position itself for the opportunities ahead.

And the conversation extends beyond the stage.

Candidates for Mayor and City Council will be in attendance, giving you the opportunity to connect directly with those seeking public office ahead of the October 26 municipal election. Click here to see which candidates are confirmed to attend.

This is not a candidate forum or debate. It’s an opportunity to bring Ottawa’s business priorities into the election conversation and connect the leaders driving our economy today with those seeking to lead our city tomorrow.
