Film Composer John Carey ’11 Returns to Capital


Film composer John Carey ’11 returns to Capital for a meaningful homecoming for the Columbus native and alumnus. Carey will share his journey from Capital composition student to working Hollywood composer, highlighting his education at Capital University, his graduate studies at USC, and his professional work on major film and media projects. His story underscores the value of creative exploration, mentorship, and hands-on learning for students pursuing careers in music, film scoring, and media arts, while inspiring the next generation of students to see how their passions can lead to impactful careers.

The Beller Award recognizes a full-time student, preferably a junior or senior with a 2.5 GPA or higher, who demonstrates leadership, service, and advocacy for social justice through inclusive, cross-cultural engagement.

Distinguished Senior Leadership Award

Honors graduating seniors who demonstrate exceptional involvement, ethical leadership, academic commitment, and meaningful impact on the Capital community, as nominated by a student, staff, or faculty member.

Interest Opportunity: Serving on Capital’s Title IX Response Team


Capital University is strengthening its campus-based Title IX Response Team to ensure reports of sex- and gender-based harassment and discrimination are handled with care, fairness, and procedural integrity. The team plays a vital role in supporting students and employees while upholding the University’s commitment to equity, dignity, and due process.


Service opportunities include roles such as investigator, hearing decision-maker, appeal reviewer, or advisor in formal Title IX processes. No prior Title IX experience is required.
