The Art of Presence:

Contemporary Realism from Ohio Artists

The Ohio Representational Art Collective brings together artists living and working in Ohio who are dedicated to the craft of contemporary realism. This group exhibition highlights the Collective’s diverse talent and showcases the breadth of representational art. With drawings, paintings, and sculptures by artists from various cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, the selected works were chosen for both their conceptual depth and technical excellence focusing on quiet, everyday subjects – capturing mundane moments with grace and sensitivity. Rendered with the discipline of Old Master techniques, the work invites viewers to see the poetry in the ordinary and experience classical realism through a contemporary lens. (Art: “Le Prince des Coeurs” by Grant Gilsdorf)

Due to the opposition to Putin, Kiselev was ousted from NTV in 2001 and persecuted as a persona non grata, prompting a move to Ukraine in 2008. After Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, Kiselev was blacklisted in Russia as a "foreign agent." In January 2025, he appeared in a CBC documentary titled "Putin's Dark Rise to Power."

Explore the Genetics of Antibiotic Resistance with Laney Paige Littlejohn

Antibiotic resistance is one of the fastest-growing threats to global health and at Capital, Laney Paige Littlejohn ’26, biology major, is on the front lines of studying how it works. This summer, she worked with her faculty mentor, Annie Witzky, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology, to investigate the genetic mechanisms that allow E. coli to withstand treatment.

As part of Capital’s Summer Scholars Program, Littlejohn pursued her project, “Understanding the Role of Elongation Factor P in Establishing Antibiotic Resistance,” a study that combined her scientific curiosity with a complex research challenge.
