What's the Best Way to End the Semester?
With Academic Success!
| | |
As we quickly approach the end of the semester, remember that Academic Success is here to partner with you and help you make sure you end the spring term on the strongest possible note! Academic Success provides free, flexible resources designed to help you study smarter, not harder:
-
Peer Tutoring – Work one-on-one with fellow CapFam students to strengthen your understanding of key course concepts, study and review more effectively, and prepare for final exams.
-
Writing Center – Get feedback on your final papers, projects, presentations, and more – whether you're just getting started or polishing a final draft.
-
Supplemental Instruction (SI) – Join collaborative group study sessions led by trained peer leaders in key supported courses as part of your final exam preparation.
-
Academic Coaching – Get personalized coaching to help you plan for the end of the semester by setting goals, refining study strategies, and prioritizing and organizing your work so you can finish strong during the last week of classes and finals week.
While most of our support resources will end on Tuesday, April 29, (the last day of classes), some limited support in the above areas will be available during finals week (May 1-2 and May 5-6). There's still time to do that little "something extra" that can make a real difference in how your semester ends. We'll see you soon!

Wednesday, April 30
6 to 8 p.m.
National Veterans Memorial and Museum

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war. To help honor our Vietnam veterans, Capital alumni Col. Tom Moe '65 and his wife, Chris Hayes Moe '65, are the evening’s featured speakers. Col. Moe, USAF F-4 fighter pilot, two silver stars, was held captive as a POW in the “Hanoi Hilton” for five years, one month, and 22 days before being released. During this time, Chris lived on Capital’s campus seeking updates on Tom. Her unique perspective promises to be inspiring.
Alumni, faculty, staff, students, and families and friends of the university are welcome to attend this complimentary special event. The evening also includes the Presenting of Colors by Capital University ROTC, a reception, and tours of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum.

What Were You Wearing? Sexual Assault Education and Prevention
In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Wellness and Prevention invites the campus community to experience “What Were You Wearing?”- a powerful survivor art exhibit. This display features firsthand narratives and recreated clothing descriptions from Capital students, faculty, and staff who have experienced sexual or power-based violence. The survivors recall what they were wearing during the assault, and a recreation of their outfits, along with their story, is displayed in the exhibit.
Through these stories, we challenge harmful victim-blaming narratives and reflect on the cultural myths that perpetuate power-based violence. This annual exhibit serves as a space for education, empathy, and solidarity, honoring the voices of survivors.
We invite you to join us in unlearning one of our culture’s most persistent rape myths and fostering a community of support and awareness.

Keller Sparks Insightful Study on James Joyce’s ‘Dubliners’
Charlotte Keller ’25, English literature, recently completed her most ambitious research project to date: a deep-dive literary analysis of James Joyce’s “Dubliners” through the lens of post-colonial and feminist theory. The paper, developed as part of her senior seminar and presented at the 29th Annual Symposium on Undergraduate Scholarship and 9th Annual Graduate Research Forum, represents a fusion of Keller’s academic interests and a testament to her growth as a student during her time at Capital.
“I’m going to miss the people and really everything about this place,” Keller reflected, “but I also feel like I’ve done what I need to do.” With graduation just around the corner and graduate school on the horizon – she’s been accepted into Western Michigan University’s MFA program in Poetry – Keller is poised for the next chapter.

Summer Hours 2025
The end of a challenging yet successful academic year is fast approaching. Capital University recognizes that employees appreciate the opportunity to work an adjusted schedule in the summer. Therefore, we will once again adjust our office hours for the summer to 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. daily. All employees will still be paid for their full work day. And for clarity, this means any vacation days taken during this time also equate to a normal full work day.
Summer hours will be in effect as follows:
Bexley Campus:
- Monday, May 12 through Friday, August 8
Capital University Law School
- Monday, May 19 through Friday, August 8
Trinity Lutheran Seminary:
- Monday, May 19 through Friday, August 8
Scheduling needs may vary by department to continue to meet the various needs across the university during the summer. A consistent level of campus safety, service to our students, and functionality of campus facilities must be maintained, so supervisors should coordinate staff scheduling with the appropriate vice president to ensure their constituencies are well served.
Thank you for your continued hard work and service to Capital University!
