Legislation to Stop Dark Store/Walgreens Tax Shift Unveiled

Rep. Rob Brooks (R-Saukville), Sen. Roger Roth (R-Appleton), and Sen. Duey Stroebel (R-Saukville), held a joint press conference yesterday unveiling their dark store and Walgreens reversal bills. The League has worked closely with the authors to draft and introduce these bills.

Municipal Officials Testify in Support of League Legislation

The League thanks Sun Prairie Mayor Paul Esser, Waunakee Village Administrator Todd Schmidt, Stevens Point Comptroller Corey Ladick, Milton Finance Director Dan Nelson, Fox Point Village Manager Scott Botcher, and Madison Government Relations Officer Nick Zavos for testifying before the Assembly Committee on Local Government yesterday in support of the following three League bills:

AB 168, Making it optional that certain city and village officials execute and file an official bond as a condition of taking office. 

AB 145, Modernizing the methods by which a mayor may inform council members of a special meeting. 

AB 229, Allowing local governments to invest surplus money in time deposits (e.g., certificates of deposit) without limit on the duration of the investment.
