Public Hearing on Assessors Bill Scheduled for Wednesday, May 3

The Senate Committee on Economic Development, Commerce, and Local Government is  holding a public hearing at noon on May 3 on SB 158, allowing persons who refuse an assessor's request to view the interior of their property to nevertheless appear before the board of review to contest the property's assessed value and to file a claim for an excessive assessment.

Current law prohibits a
property owner from appearing before the board of review to contest the assessed value of the property if the owner refuses to allow the assessor to view the interior of the property.

The public hearing on SB 158 is in room 300 South East, State Capitol at 12:00 p.m. on May 3.

The League opposes the bill.
