#1 Greater Conejo Valley Chamber Launches Conejo PAC

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce has launched the Conejo PAC, a county-level Political Action Committee designed to support candidates and ballot measures that promote a strong business climate and strategic economic growth, while complementing the Chamber’s ongoing nonpartisan advocacy efforts.

“Local government decisions have a direct and lasting impact on employers, workers, and our regional economy,” said Dianne McKay, Chair of the Conejo PAC. “The launch of the PAC gives our business community an additional, transparent way to engage in the local political process and support leaders who understand the importance of a healthy, competitive economy.”

#3  Governor Newsom Releases 2026 Budget Proposal

Governor Newsom has released his proposed 2026–2027 state budget, projecting a manageable $2.9 billion deficit - significantly smaller than the Legislative Analyst’s Office projection of an $18 billion shortfall - and higher-than-expected revenues largely driven by the tech and AI sectors. While the proposal preserves most prior investments and increases state reserves, it offers no major new spending or revenue solutions and allows funding for housing, homelessness, and childcare expansions to expire, prompting concerns about California’s ability to address affordability challenges and mitigate the impact of federal cuts.

#4  President Trump Removes Local Fire-Recovery Permitting Control

President Trump has issued an unprecedented executive order seeking to take control of Los Angeles wildfire rebuilding permits from state and local governments and shift that authority to the federal government. State and local leaders, including Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass, quickly criticized the move as legally questionable and counterproductive, arguing that recovery is already progressing and that the greater obstacles are delayed disaster aid, insurance disputes, and rebuilding costs—not local permitting.
