On Tuesday night the Thousand Oaks City Council unanimously approved (5-0) a $5.9 million expenditure to advance the Downtown Thousand Oaks Project. The funding supports architectural, engineering, financial advisory, and legal services to develop the project from concept to pre-construction, aligning with the Downtown Core Master Plan's vision of creating an active, pedestrian-friendly area with construction anticipated to begin in 2027.

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce endorses the Downtown project and thanks Chamber Members who spoke in favor of the project and submitted letters of support.

#2 Corporate Transparency Act Blocked Nationwide

A Texas federal court issued a nationwide injunction blocking the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which required U.S. businesses to report beneficial ownership details to the Treasury Department by 2025. While the government argued that the CTA aimed to combat money laundering and terrorism financing, the court held that the law unconstitutionally compelled disclosures unrelated to regulating commerce. The decision halts enforcement of the law less than a month before the reporting deadline.
