2023 LEGISLATIVE SESSION: WEEK 5
Florida Senate
The 5th week of the 2023 Regular Legislative Session was a short week as the House only met on Monday and Tuesday and the Senate met only through Wednesday. Given the short week, there was minimal movement in legislation that is being tracked by the Florida Alliance of Children’s Councils & Trusts. However, on Tuesday, April 4th, HB 875 Dependent Children, by Representative Dana Trabulsy, (R – St. Lucie) passed unanimously out of the House Civil Justice Subcommittee. Its Senate companion SB 1384 Legal Proceedings for Children, by Senator Colleen Burton, (R – Lakeland) passed out of the Senate Committee on Children, Families, and Elder Affairs.

During last week’s sessions of the House and Senate both chambers passed their respective budgets. This puts each chamber's spending plan in the proper posture to appoint budget conferees and start budget conferences.
