2022 LEGISLATIVE SESSION: WEEK 5
This week marked week 5 of the Regular Legislative Session. This week saw HB 1319 by Representative Angie Nixon, (D- Jacksonville) relating to the School Readiness Program receive unanimous support in the House Early Learning & Elementary Education Subcommittee. In addition, SB 342 & SB 344 by Senator Perry, (R-Gainesville) relating to Juvenile Diversion Program Expunction and its Public Records companion as well as SB 1048 by Senator Manny Diaz, (R- Hialeah Gardens) relating to Student Assessments passed the Senate Appropriations Committee and now make their way to the Senate floor.

Also, this week both chambers released their full appropriations bills. HB 5001 and SB 2500 outline each chamber's spending plan including proviso language that dictates how funds shall be spent.

Next week SB 390 by Senator Lauren Book, (D- Plantation) relating to Restraint of Children with Disabilities in Public School and SB 236 by Senator Shevrin Jones, (D- Miami Gardens) relating to Children with Developmental Delays are up in the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.

As we enter the sixth week of session, the Florida Alliance of Children’s Councils & Trusts removed bills from the bill tracker that had to date not received a hearing in any of its referenced committees. Over the next three weeks, we will continue to monitor legislation to see if any previously tracked policy begins to be amended onto other pieces of moving legislation.

Until next week!

Sincerely,

The Florida Alliance of Children's Councils & Trusts
