Humble ISD held its annual livestock show last week, and I would like to congratulate all of the students who participated in the show. The BBQ cook-off starts today and goes through the weekend, come out for a great event that benefits the Humble ISD Education Foundation.
Last weekend, Janet Huberty and I spent a fabulous evening celebrating the 2019 Women of Achievement at the Annual
FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center
"Hearts of Gold" Gala. I was honored to lead the Paddle Call specifically to raise money to purchase new vehicles for the shelter. With the help of Mark Linabury and many FT Board Members & Volunteers, we raised $47,000 that evening! But with a generous contribution from longtime supporter Dorothy McFerrin, we met our goal of $65,000 which will purchase two vehicles to transport clients to The Door! We are so grateful for her continued support of this great organization! Thank you to everyone who donated to the Paddle Call and participated in this great evening!
Again, there will be another opportunity to support the SJRA Seasonal Lake Lowering program at the next SJRA
Board Meeting at
6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 20.
The meeting will be held at the same location as the previous meeting, at the
Lone Star Convention and Expo Center, 9055 Airport Road, Conroe, Texas 77303. Doors open at 5pm.
Finally, a very valuable friend and staff member will be leaving our office. Amy Peterson has served as the Committee Director for the House Committee on Public Education since I was first selected as Chairman for the 85th Legislative Session, in 2017. Her incredible work ethic, professionalism, and good nature has made possible our accomplishments as a committee, and I cannot thank her enough for her service to legislature and the 5.4 million public school students in Texas. She will be moving on to another state agency where I know she will thrive and become an integral member of the staff, just as she has done in our office. Thank you, Amy, for everything you have done for our office!
Should you have questions regarding anything in this newsletter, please feel free to contact us directly using the information provided at the bottom of this email.
Sincerely,
