Capitol Update
Representative Jeni Arndt- HD 53
Dear Neighbor,

I hope you're all staying warm!

The Colorado General Assembly is in full swing and it has already been a busy and productive couple of weeks. Two of my bills pass third reading in the House, both with 61-0 votes. HB16 1025 clarifies that an insurance policy that replaces an expired policy, may be issued by another admitted company within the same insurance group, rather than the issuer of the original policy. HB16 1042 creates a liquor license exemption for state institutions of higher education engaging in fermentation classes, thus allowing qualified students, qualified employees, or expert tasters who are at least 21 years old to taste the beer they have brewed.

Bipartisan vote
Another bill of mine, HB16 1139, successfully made it out of committee with a 10-1 vote and will move to the floor for second reading. This bill permits the executive committee of the Legislative Council to establish policies allowing members of the General Assembly to participate electronically in non-voting interim committee meetings.

On Monday, Alli Gunther received the Larimer County Conservation Corps 2015 Corpsmember of the Year award.  Alli consistently exceeded the expectations of her crew and project partners. Alli plans on participating in the Corps again this summer and next fall she plans to attend Fort Lewis College to study Environmental Studies. I was proud to give Alli this award, as a former Youth Corps member myself.
