Member of Rural Affairs and Agriculture Committee; Business Affairs and Labor Committee
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
It's been an eventful week under the golden dome. A few major pieces of legislation have been introduced and are moving through the legislature. SB19-181 is an omnibus bill concerning the regulation oil and gas industry. You can read the bill here:
Today, HB19-1191 passed third reading unanimously. The bill was brought to me by a local farmer in Fort Collins. The bill allows farm stands on farms less than three acres. This bill is good for small urban farmers.
Earlier this week, our bill to repeal the death penalty in Colorado was introduced. The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and is being discussed on the Senate floor on Monday. It's time to repeal the death penalty.
Each year, the Aspinall Award is given to an outstanding water leader in Colorado. This year's recipient is John McClow. The Water Committee honored him on the House floor with a tribute.
People and Pollinators advocated at the Capitol for protecting bees, butterflies, and all other pollinators. They are a critical part of Colorado agriculture and contribute to a healthy planet.
You are all invited to the upcoming Community Forum at Avogadro's Number on Saturday, March 23rd from 3pm-4:30pm. The address is 605 S Mason St, Fort Collins, CO 80524. We are discussing the state budget. Please join.
