Cornell Cooperative Extension Events

CCE of Tompkins County has several events coming up this spring. Check them out!


  • Spring Demonstrations Garden Open House, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, 5:30 PM. Master Gardeners will be at the garden (615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca) and available for questions. The CCE garden includes a wide variety of plants, including native plants and a pollinator garden. 
  • Plant Sale, Saturday, May 31, 10:00 AM, Cornell Botanic Gardens. Finger Lakes Native Plant Society (FLNPS) will hold their Annual Native Plant Sale (joint with Cornell Botanic Gardens) at Cornell Botanic Gardens' Greenhouse/Plant Production Facility, 397 Forest Home Drive, Ithaca (opposite Flat Rock). Support FLNPS & the Botanic Gardens' propagation efforts by purchasing regional & local native species from wild collected seed or Ithaca gardeners' divisions/seedlings.
  • Native Plant Garden Tour, Saturday, June 14, 10:30 AM, Ithaca area gardens. Tompkins Pollinator Pathway is co-sponsoring this tour put on by the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Tompkins County. Join this self-guided tour of 3 public gardens and 2 private gardens in Ithaca and the Ellis Hollow area, all featuring native plants. Meet between 10:30 and 11:30 AM at Cornell Cooperative Extension (615 Willow Ave, Ithaca) to collect maps and tour the native plant and pollinator gardens there before proceeding to the other gardens. Free and open to the public.

Cornell Military History - War Memorial Walking Tour

In honor of Memorial Day, join Cornell's military community -- students, staff, and faculty -- on a tour of war memorials on our campus. Make connections and learn about the rich history Cornell has with our nation's military. The tour will begin at 12:00 noon on the Statler side of Barton Hall.

 

Tour Schedule:

  • 12:00 - 12:45 Barton Hall
  • 1:00 - 1:30 War Memorial (Lyon & McFaddin Hall)
  • 1:45 - 2:00 Annabelle Taylor

 

This tour has been developed by the Cornell Veterans Colleague Network Group (VCNG) in collaboration with Team RWB Ithaca (teamrwb.org) and the organizations at Cornell University that are working with and in support of our military community. CFCU Free Summer Concerts

Free and fun for the entire family, the CFCU Summer Concert Series in Downtown Ithaca will be taking place outside starting at 6:00 PM each Thursday between June 5 and September 14, 2025, at the Bernie Milton Pavilion.

 

Local and national acts perform music in genres including jazz, blues, reggae, folk, hip-hop, country, bluegrass, rock, and more.

Ithaca Reggae Fest

The 7th Annual Ithaca Reggae Fest returns to historic Stewart Park June 20-22, 2025!

 

Ithaca Reggae Fest is a conscious celebration to protect and highlight Cayuga Lake and Ithaca’s legendary reggae history. Join this beautiful weekend filled with reggae music, yoga, water, skateboarding, art, dance, delicious food & beverages and so much more.  


Check out the various "villages" that will be on site:


  • Lake Discovery Village: An aggregation of dedicated water protectors, scientists, and community activists collaborating to protect and restore the health of Cayuga Lake. Explore interactive activities while learning essential information inviting you to join our mission for a healthy, cleaner, sustainable Cayuga Lake. Water is life and we are all stewards of our water in the Finger Lakes and around the world.
  • Art Village: Come paint throughout the day with supplies and activities organized by GIAC. Artists will have opportunities to create collaborative and personal murals, with the best designs being used to enhance future festivals in Stewart Park.
  • Yoga Village: Join this rhythmic flow of sun salutations- this is a fun way to join in on group energy and come together as a community moving together as one love.

Stewart Park History Walk and Talk

Join this free tour of historic Stewart Park hosted by Friends of Stewart Park, Wharton Studio Museum & Historic Ithaca. The tour will focus on the park's history and its current revitalization.


The tour will be walking throughout the park please be sure to wear proper footwear and bring a water bottle. Meet on the Waterfront Trail in front of the Picnic “Large” Pavilion. Registration required.

New Wharton Studio Museum Exhibits

Off the Rails w/ the Wharton Brothers is in the Exhibit Hall at Tompkins Center for History and Culture on the Commons in downtown Ithaca through December 2025.

 

This new multimedia installation complements The History Center's Planes, Trains, & Automobiles: Buses, Boats, Bikes exhibit focused on transportation in Tompkins County. Off the Rails celebrates automobiles, aeroplanes, trolleys and more in the Wharton Studio's films and serials. See it, along with WSM's permanent exhibit, at the TCHC Wednesday-Saturday from 10am-6pm at the TCHC at 110 N. Tioga St. on the Ithaca Commons.

 

Silent Films on Cayuga Lake: The Wharton Studio Story will be open in Auburn at the Cayuga Museum of History & Art through December 2025.


Silent Films on Cayuga Lake is produced by Finger Lakes Film Trail, curated by Wharton Studio Museum, with exhibit design by Joe Lamarre at Uncommonplace and written by Roger Kimmel Smith.

AARP CarFit Virtual Workshop: Let’s Talk Vehicle Safety and Fit

Learn what you can do to improve the way you fit in your vehicle and how making those adjustments can keep you safer on the road.


Making sure that you and your vehicle fit well can be as important to your safety as a mechanical checkup. This free 90-minute CarFit workshop will cover:

  • Actions you can take to improve your fit in your personal vehicle 
  • How getting the proper fit in your vehicle may increase your safety and the safety of others on the road  
  • When and how to connect with professionals and trained volunteers who can help you achieve a better fit


CarFit is a free educational program developed by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association to help older drivers reduce their risk of injury in an accident.

Grieving Together: Online Ongoing General Support Group

 

This group meets the first and third Wednesday of every month via Zoom and is for anyone 18 years of age or older grieving a loss, regardless of when the death occurred. Open to residents of Tompkins and Cortland Counties.

 

Registration is required. Please contact bereavement@hospicare.org or call Liz Wood at 607-272-0212 to register or with any questions. Login details will be provided after registration.
