Dear Bellaire High School Families,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying a wonderful summer break filled with cherished moments and relaxation. As we prepare to embark on a new school year, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to each of you.
Whether you are returning to us or joining our school community for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our family. At Bellaire High School we believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As we look forward to the upcoming year, I want to assure you that our dedicated team of educators and staff is committed to providing your child with a high-quality education. We are here to support their growth, encourage their curiosity, and help them discover their passions.
Throughout the year, you can expect open communication, transparency, and opportunities for involvement in your child's educational journey. We value your partnership and believe that together, we can create a positive and enriching experience for your child. Regarding communication, we will send out the Cardinal e-News on a regular basis, School Messenger notices, and faculty and staff emails are always available. Also, I encourage everyone to join the school Remind app by following the instructions attached to this email. You can also find all things Bellaire at our school website: Bellaire High School / Homepage, including information about back-to-school check-in, student ID’s, Parents on Patrol (P.O.P), and the link to Bellaire Cardinals spirit wear!
Please mark your calendars for important dates such as August 12th (first day of school) and Wednesday, September 4th (Open House) where you will have the chance to meet your child’s teachers and learn more about his or her classes. Attached to this email is the 2024-25 Bellaire Student Handbook. Please be sure to review it thoroughly with your child. It contains the 2024-25 bell schedule, dress code, lunch information, counselor information, cell phone policy, and more. More information on course scheduling, which is in the final stages and should be accessible to students and parents soon, is forthcoming.
Attached to this email is a map showing the drop-off and pick-up locations for your child, which are along S. Rice Blvd. and Maple St. There are three morning entry and afternoon dismissal doors for students to use: Door 1 (the main entrance on S. Rice), Door 6 (through the Courtyard), and Door 14 (the bus lane for our bus riders). All students should be on campus by 8:20 so they can walk to their classes (this is a large campus!) and be on time for when classes start at 8:30 am. Daily dismissal this year is at 4:00 pm.
Our school theme for 2024-25 is “Let Your Mind-Set the Stage”. This play on words leans on two important aspects of the work at Bellaire High School. First, the mindset is critical in everything we do. We as faculty, staff, and students should have a mindset that strives for excellence in everything we do, and that requires learning. Secondly, the theme pays homage to the stage where so many of our students perform at amazing levels, whether it be the fine arts stage with a dance show or a theater performance in the auditorium, the academic stage where students prepare all year to perform on an advanced placement, SAT, or STAAR exam, or the athletics stage where memories are made on the playing fields and in the gymnasiums. Wherever the stage is this year, it is the mindset that brings it all together and makes it happen for everyone at Bellaire High School.
Finally, I invite you to peruse the Bellaire High School Parent-Teacher-Organization (PTO) website at Bellaire High School PTO where you can find ways to support Bellaire High School and even join the PTO. The work of the PTO has been instrumental over the years, making a positive and impactful presence that supports all students.
Once again, welcome to the new school year! We are excited for the adventures and successes that await us, and we look forward to working together to ensure a fulfilling and rewarding experience for your child.
Warm regards,
Michael Niggli, Principal
