Tutorial and Testing Schedule
Students are encouraged to attend tutorial sessions and reach out to teachers for student conferences and retakes during Cardinal Hour. Students, remember there is a bell that rings between the Red and White blocks to help you manage your time.
Club Involvement: Mini-Club Jamborees and Club Meeting Schedule
Operation #GetInvolved! Students who were not able to attend the Club Jamboree at Cardinal Camp can now learn about student organizations and talk to club leaders during Cardinal Hour on Monday, August 29, and Tuesday, August 30. Next Monday and Tuesday, students should head to the end of Main Street near S. Rice to check out clubs. Parents, it's important for students to join and connect with at least one organization on campus; please follow up with your student and ask them what they are interested in and what they have signed up to try. Click here to reference our Club Guide from last year. A new guide will be published in September with additional clubs and updated information.
Please see Ms. Chapman in room 2712 or email her at echapman@houstonisd.org with any questions about getting involved with clubs!

Traffic Patterns Around Bellaire - Thank You for Your Patience
Arrival
Traffic patterns as expected, were heavy during the first week of school. Each day seemed to get a little better, and we anticipate that traffic patterns will continue to improve as everyone finds the path that works best for their family. Please remember that Maple Street is one way on school days and traffic is very heavy.
The City of Bellaire has asked us to remind students to walk on sidewalks and to observe all posted parking signage and ordinances. When crossing S. Rice at the lights, it is also important to watch the signals and only enter the street when the light indicates it's a crossing period.
Parents, please do not attempt to pull into the parking garage to drop off or pick up a student. Parking in the garage is by permit only.
Dismissal
Students may exit the building through any door on campus. Dismissal is at 4:10 pm. Please arrange a pickup location with your child prior to drop off.

|
Open House
Please mark your calendars for Open House. We will get started at 6:00 pm in the auditorium, and then once released, parents will follow their student's schedules and meet each of their teachers.

ID Pictures - New System!
We are excited to roll out our new Student ID system! Students are encouraged to check their HISD email and follow the directions to upload their choice of ID picture. Guidelines:
- Pictures should be a simple headshot
- Plain background
- No hats or sunglasses
- No hand gestures or signs
All pictures will be screened and approved before an ID is printed. Students are encouraged to submit their pictures now so that all ID badges will be ready for pick-up during Back to School Check-In. Please note that all students will be required to wear their Student ID this year and for it to be visible.
When looking in email, students should search for an email sent from CardExchange Cloud or Aurora. The subject line is “Your account has been created.” and was sent to students accounts on August 4th. Students that enrolled after August 4 will submit their information to their Advocacy Teacher on Monday, Aug. 22 and a account will be created for them.
We know that it is going to take time to have 100% of our IDs printed and distributed from our new system.
Students that have been issued an ID are expected to be wearing them while on campus. We will begin ID checks next week.

Once approved students will receive an ID that indicates that they can leave campus during Cardinal Hour. A student must show their ID to leave campus.
Bellaire's campus will be closed for the first two weeks of school. Home lunch passes will not go into effect until September 6. All students should plan to bring their lunch or a meal will be provided by the cafeteria. We will begin to issue home lunch permits next week. From the Bellaire Counseling Office:
It has been a fabulous first week of the 2022-2023 school year! It is so great seeing and working with students on campus again!
-What do High School Counselors do? Bellaire High School Counselors provide direct and indirect services to students to promote overall student wellbeing and achievement. Services include individual student planning through academic advising, scheduling and goal setting through personal graduation plans, high school 101 classroom guidance to 9th-grade students, and consultation with parents and faculty to provide support for students. Along with our Social Worker, Ms. Lasprilla, and our Wraparound Specialists, Ms. Gardner and Mr. Sylvie, we also provide responsive services to meet students' immediate needs and concerns. If your student ever has an immediate need, they can visit our offices or submit a SAF (Student Assistance Form) at this link. SAF QR codes are posted all around campus. If you don’t know who your student’s Counselor is, there is a list on Bellaire.org under “Counselors.”
Regarding Schedule Changes: Over the last two weeks, the BHS Counselors received many schedule changes from students and teacher requests for students to be placed in specific class periods due to auditions or tryouts.
Please note that scheduling newly enrolled students and working with students in crisis take precedence, but the BHS Counselors will continue to process the schedule change requests as quickly as possible in the order received. Our teachers know that student schedules are still being adjusted and work with students as they are added to courses.
Things we are noticing that are slowing down the schedule change process are :
- Students submitting multiple requests for the same change.
- Students sending in the requests and also email the Counselor.
- Students coming to the Counseling office during class time regarding a schedule change.
- Requests are being made for specific class periods and specific teachers. It is important for students to keep in mind that students cannot request specific teachers and class periods. Not every class is offered at every period by every teacher.
- Some courses are full. We cannot overfill a course to accommodate a student’s schedule change request.
-
We appreciate your patience during this extremely busy time. The BHS Counselors will continue working hard to process the changes received.
