All School Musical - That's a Wrap!

The BHS Fine Arts Musical was on stage January 25-27th. This year, the artists, musicians, and actors of the Bellaire Fine Arts department came together to put on a magical production of "Peter and the Starcatcher". Audiences were delighted by the magic and fun as the actors told the tale of how Peter Pan and Captain Hook became the characters we know them to be. This was a very special production, as many of the technical theatre elements were designed by Varsity Technical Theatre students. Junior Emma Kolah and Senior Justin Lee were the set designers for this production. They collaborated to create our magical world on stage. These two designed our set and made the build plans for the two, 6-foot tall, three-level set units that were on stage. Junior Reece Langland was the lighting designer. Reece created a lighting plot, hung, focused, and programmed the lighting instruments that were imperative in telling the story. Senior Jermaine Hayden was the student choreographer, and choreographed the hilarious and joyous opening number of Act 2, "Mermaid Outta Me". Jermaine is a 3 year eMotion student, holds an officer position within eMotion, and is the President of Red Bird Productions. Seniors Busso Jagne, Danielle Stasio, and Sara Shen were the production's scenic artists. Our orchestra was comprised of student musicians, (who some dressed as pirates for the show nights), and was led by Mrs. Reynosa, with Mrs. Solberg on the piano and as the music director. Mrs. Boffone was our technical director and orchestrated the student technicians to ensure that all technical elements of the production were created on time and in a safe environment. Mr. Unroe was also the assistant technical director for this production and assisted Reece Langland with hanging and focusing his lighting instruments. This event is an important part of Bellaire's traditions and community. It's always a joy to have the fine arts departments come together to bring a production that's full of high-caliber Bellaire talent.
