Clubs - Get Connected and Involved!

The start of a new semester brings fresh starts! If you have not connected with a club or organization, now is the perfect time to jump in and join. Look through the dates of club meetings and attend a meeting this week. Taking the first step to show up will lead to new friends, connections, and opportunities. If you have a question about a club or joining one, please swing by and talk to Ms. Chapman in room 2712.

FAFSA Workshop Rescheduled

Due to the Federal Student Aid conducting the soft launch period during the month of January, the FAFSA workshop for January 17th has been postponed to February 29th. We will still have a workshop on February 15th from 5:30-7:30. For more information contact Jasmine Davis via email at jasmine.davis@houstonisd.org .

Additional FAFSA information can be found through accessing the US Department of Educations website here.

If your student does not have a SSN, no worries! They will complete a TASFA online application in February 2024 to be eligible for aid to Texas college

Our new Freedom from Period Poverty is active on Donors Choose. We have the opportunity to have your donations matched by an anonymous supporter, which means that if you donate $10, the project actually receives $20!

Help us refill the free feminine hygiene product baskets in the girls restrooms, as our resources are getting super low now and we need refills fast!

Here's the link to donate: http://tinyurl.com/BHSFreedom2024.

Thanks to donors' generosity we have been able to provide girls with what they need to excel for three years now.

Thank you!

Library News

The library has had a busy week with new subjects and content areas coming to collaborate with the library. During testing last week, we were able to host some displaced classes and students. In the past 2 weeks we have had 2,569 student visits both with classes and outside class time. We have had 415 books checked out so far this month, and Ms. Carpenter has taught/collaborated with 11 classes this week.

Special thanks to Ms. Kubena for bringing her AP stats classes down for a fun activity calculating the average word length in fiction books and even book check out! It was a fun day! We also had research with our English II team for an upcoming argument paper on banned books. We have a bunch of fun plans coming up in the next few weeks so watch our information in the newsletters!
