Join the PTO and Support Bellaire High School!
Thank you to all the families who have joined the PTO and have supported the school through their generous contributions! This year we are aiming to reach at least 10% family participation. That’s is only 300 families of the 3,000+ students we have at Bellaire HS. If you haven’t joined the PTO, please don’t wait any longer, staff and teachers are counting on us to support and enhance all the students learning experience.

As a campus, we would like to reach out to our amazing PTO and thank them for their support during our homecoming events! Special thanks to Rachel Berger, Shannon Hoffer, Kent Cantrell, Judy Cheng, Heather Sasser, Amy Allen and all of our volunteers for leading the efforts for the weekend.

Library Update
This Wednesday, 11/3, the Bellaire HS library did a Satellite library on the 2nd floor of the academic wing. Ms. Carpenter's goal for this pop up library was to bring the books to the students- especially as we near closer to the move in date of the new library space.
On Wednesday Ms. Carpenter and Ms. Moreira (library clerk) brought up 4 carts worth of books to the academic wing, and used the furniture that was already there to set up this satellite library. Ms. carpenter pulled books from all Fiction Genres and some high interest non fiction like graphic novels, manga, Short Story collections, Biographies/memoirs, and general information/ paranormal books. This gave the students nearly triple the amount that we can normally hold on our Mobile Library cart. In this one day, we were able to check out 183 books, renew books, and received some overdue books back from students.
This was planned in collaboration with the English Department so that students could come down during their class time if possible. We tried to go for a Book Fair atmosphere but with no money involved. Each student who checked out books were greeted with a smile and a choice of stickers as well.
With only 15 days remaining until the official move in timeline of the library- the library will be slowing down on circulation and classroom visits as we begin to get organized for the move. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we begin the moving process.
Please email Ms. Carpenter if you have any concerns about access, kaitlyn.carpenter@houstonisd.org. We will be starting for the next 2 weeks on Make it Monday, a bookmark design contest for students bookmark creations to be the featured book marks when the library opens!

November is Generation Texas Month, a statewide movement to ensure students have information and resources regarding postsecondary options such as college, career, and military. At this point seniors should have requested letters of recommendation and transcripts, taken the SAT or ACT, and started applications. Students should submit applications as soon as possible. Remember the sooner you apply to colleges and financial aid, the better. Don’t forget to read the weekly Friend-Lee Reminders for Bellaire College Center information, scholarship opportunities and important deadlines. The Bellaire College Center and Counselors have information for all postsecondary options.
The past two weeks Counselors have visited Freshman students during their World Geography classes to complete PGP’s (Personal Graduation Plans). Students were instructed to bring home the parent PGP information for completion in HISD Connect. Remember, the PGP is a state graduation requirement. If you did not complete the electronic PGP, please select the instructions below. Gratitude is the Character trait of the month. For the month of November, lets show gratitude by saying thank you as much as possible. The benefits of gratitude include increased happiness, stronger self-control, and better physical and mental health.
Remember, the Bellaire Counseling team is here to support students with academic, social, or emotional issues. Students don’t need an appointment to visit with their counselor during Cardinal Hour. After the Thanksgiving break, the Counselor offices will be relocated to the new administrative and front office suite.
