Library News
While this week is a short one for students, it has been a busy one for the library. With only 4 days at school, the library has had 1,224 student visits on passes and outside of class time, and 305 student visits with classes. In only 9 days so far of November, we have already checked out 345 books. In the 12 class visits this week, Ms. Carpenter has taught a range of subjects. Principles of Technology has come into the makerspace to begin building their bridges where we got to talk about the cost of materials, scarcity, scaling, and measurement for accurate construction. English IV classes came in for book checkout and a brief follow-up on how to embed quotes and research into their writing as they begin drafting their persuasive papers. CTE classes on Human Resource Management had Ms. Carpenter come to their class to navigate a WebQuest on HR current issues where students could access professional publications on HR to better understand their chosen current issue in HR, and how to search within a company's website to find the current policies in place to address the current HR Issues. Thank you to Mr. Brownfield, Mr. Collins, and Ms. Lach for allowing the library to enrich your classes learning.
This week the library has two featured displays: Native American Heritage Month, focusing on indigenous peoples and their experiences including fiction and nonfiction, and "What's on the Menu for the Holiday Season?", featuring cookbooks from around the world and celebrity cookbooks that students can check out.
Starting last week, the library began giving out prizes for participating in the library incentives program for reading and library programs. Check out our top library users this week!
