From the Bellaire Counseling Office:
What should someone do if they or someone they know is being bullied? The most important thing to do is speak up! Bystanders (people who stand by and watch while another is actively being bullied) have the power to stop bullying in its tracks. Bystanders can become upstanders by reporting the behavior to an adult, supporting the victim by getting them away from a bullying situation, or calmly telling the bully that their behavior is uncool.
Here are some great resources from reputable organizations that work to reduce bullying:
Bellaire is such a diverse school in so many ways, and we want to continue the long legacy of accepting people as they are. So if you see bullying in action or are being bullied, please remember to let a trusted grown-up know.

Library Update
The first six weeks of the school year has been a whirlwind! The kids have been happy to have books available. The image above shows how our circulation has increase - the comparison numbers are taken from August & September of 2019 (the last normal year pre-COVID). We have had HUGE success in getting books in kids hands- increasing from 65 circulations in August 2019 to 317 in August of 2022. The classes have learned how to put books on hold which alerts the library to grab the book for the student.
Freshman are leading all grade levels in physical checkouts from the library. MackinVia has had an astronomical increase- from an average of 30 check outs a month over the past 3 years to over 200+ checkouts just in September! Thank you for raising readers and allowing the library to be a part of their educational journey.
LInked is an infographic based on the Library Interest Survey available to all students via CANVAS and the library website, this survey shows the Bellaire Student body reading interests. This data will help the library inform purchases and collection development for our library. The survey is still available for students if they have not participated yet. I have also included the BHS Library Book suggestion form for students and staff to suggest books. Before submitting a suggestion- please check Destiny Discover (our online catalog) to make sure we do not already have that title available.
