Dear Mooney Family,
November is the month of gratitude when we reflect on the blessings surrounding us and express our appreciation for all that we have. At Cardinal Mooney High School, we strive to instill the value of thankfulness. This November, we encourage our students to reflect on the many things they are thankful for. Whether it's family, friends, teachers, or the opportunities they have, recognizing and appreciating these blessings can be transformative. We invite you to engage with your children in conversations about gratitude and acknowledging the positive aspects of life.
Typically, at this time each year, our campus ministry department organizes a food drive to help put our gratitude into action and help those in need. However, Catholic Charities has recommended that we hold the drive after this holiday season to help fill the need that is felt after the holiday giving season. Consequently, our National Honors Society will conduct the food drive in 2025 during Lent.
Thanksgiving break will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 27, until we return with a late-start Monday, Dec. 2. We hope during this time, students will have the opportunity to spend quality time with their families, enjoy delicious meals, and reflect on the things they are thankful for.
The administration, faculty, and staff of Cardinal Mooney High School would like to express our sincere gratitude for entrusting us and partnering with us in your child's development in mind, body, and soul. As professionals who have dedicated our lives to Catholic education, we want to thank each of you for investing your time, talent, and treasure in Cardinal Mooney. Because of this great commitment, we can continue to fulfill our worthy mission.
Warm regards,
Nick Beyer
President/Principal

Our freshman retreat is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Villa Maria Retreat and Spirituality Center in western Pennsylvania. Several faculty and staff members will join students for a day of reflection, meditation, team building, and sharing, culminating with Mass celebrated by Chaplain Rev. Fr. Rovnak.
This year’s retreat theme, “They’ll Know We’re Christians by Our Love,” draws inspiration from John 13:34-35. Villa Maria, affectionately known as “the Villa,” is the community center for the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. Located on 760 acres near the Ohio border, the property features a working farm, gardens, wetlands, a bird sanctuary, nature trails, an herb garden, a gift shop, and Magnificat Chapel.
Students are encouraged to dress down in Mooney attire and will enjoy lunch provided by the Villa Maria cafeteria staff. Buses will depart from Cardinal Mooney at 9 a.m. and return by 3 p.m.
Here is the permission form.

Athletes earn Fall postseason honors |
Our athletes began preparing months before competition began, and now they're experiencing the rewards of their work.
At this time, more than 30 students earned post-season honors — and football awards haven't even been announced yet. Leading the way for our men and women are all-state representatives, Frankie Cassese, Angel Alvarez, and Alex Eckstein.
Juniors Alvarez and Eckstein earned all-state honors for the second consecutive year in soccer and golf, respectively. Cassese, also a junior earned her first spot on the all-state women's soccer lineup after a fantastic season, which saw her team claim a district championship.
Visit our website for a complete rundown of Fall postseason honors.

Through four tournaments this season, our speech and debate team appears poised to continue the program's tradition.
With students gradually coming on board after the completion of Fall sports, the team is building momentum. While working to full strength, the Public Forum Debate team of Mya Colella and Ethan Hanni has earned first-place honors in each of the first four tournaments.
This season still holds a lot of important dates, including the Cardinal Mooney Speech And Debate Tournament on Jan. 11, 2025. This is a massive undertaking, which can only happen with the help of parents, friends, and alumni. If you would like to donate food for concessions, trophies, or your time as a judge, please contact program director, Allyson Cooper.
