The Annandale Community Education is preparing for a new school year. New activities have been added to the catalog for late summer and fall.

• Teacher Assignments Released - Thursday, August 6 at 9:00 a.m. - Classroom Teacher Assignments will be viewable in the Parent Portal.  
• Kindergarten: Open House - Monday, August 31st (exact times will be mailed to Kindergarten families along with details regarding their first week of school).
• Grade 1 & 2: Open House - Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (families will be emailed a link and instructions to schedule their time). 
• Grades 3-5: Open House - Wednesday, August 26 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Grade 9 & New AHS Students: Orientation - Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the AHS auditorium.



School Supplies: Each student's schedule is unique, so there is not a universal supply list for the high school. Each student should have the basics of pens, pencils, a few notebooks and folders on the first day of school. Our teachers will inform students if there are other specific supplies needed for their class. All high school math students will need a TI-84+CE calculator.

Annandale High School Chiller System Update



One of the larger projects taking place this summer has been the replacement of the high school chiller system. While most people won't ever see this improvement, it's an important investment that will help ensure our students and staff have a comfortable learning environment for years to come.

Like any major construction project, we've encountered a few unexpected challenges along the way. Fortunately, our construction partners and district staff have done an outstanding job working through those issues, and I am happy to report that the project remains on schedule. A tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes work has taken place this summer, and the extensive interior work is expected to be completed before students and staff return. As planned from the beginning of the project, the new chiller system itself will not be fully operational when school starts. However, the building will be ready to welcome everyone back, and the remaining work will continue as scheduled.

I want to thank everyone who has been involved in making this project a success. A great deal of work happens behind the scenes during the summer months, and it takes the dedication of many people to ensure our buildings are ready to welcome students and staff back each fall. We appreciate their commitment and look forward to another great year.

Fall Sports Meeting and Individual Team Meetings

• Monday, August 10 at 6:00 pm at the FOOTBALL FIELD
• For students in grades 7-12 participating in a fall sport (football, volleyball, girls tennis, cross country, cheer team)
• This is for students and parents.   

If you or your son/daughter are not able to attend this meeting, please notify the coach (prior to the meeting, if possible). The coaches list can be accessed from the team page on Bound.

2026-27 FALL ACTIVITY REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

ACTIVITY REGISTRATION

The following 3 items must be completed to be allowed to participate.

• Complete the online registration form. We have a new registration site through Bound. Go to our Bound site and click on “Registration”. All families will need to make a new account with this system.
• Pay your activity fee (either at the end of the registration form by credit card or by bringing in a check/cash to the HS Office). 
• For athletics, you will need to have a current sports physical to register. They are good for three years from the date of the appointment and must be valid through the end of the season. You will upload the sports physical form when you complete registration. If you had a current sports physical on file prior to 6/1/26, that has been uploaded to your child’s account. 

If you need to complete a physical, or if your previous one has expired, print the 2026-2027 Sports Physical Form. Bring it with you to your sports physical appointment. Once completed you will keep the document and upload it during registration.

Annandale Public Schools Welcomes Drew Rongere as Activities Director

Annandale Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Drew Rongere as the district's new Activities Director, effective July 2026.

Rongere brings more than 26 years of experience in educational athletics and student activities, having served as an activities director, athletic administrator, coach, and mentor throughout his career. His leadership has focused on creating positive experiences for students, supporting coaches and advisors, and building strong school communities through extracurricular opportunities.

Rongere is excited to join the Annandale community and become part of a district with a strong tradition of excellence in academics, activities, and community support. He looks forward to working alongside students, coaches, advisors, staff, and families to support the outstanding programs already in place while building opportunities for future generations of Cardinals. He believes athletics and activities develop leadership, responsibility, perseverance, teamwork, character, and a lifelong sense of belonging.

Rongere joins Annandale from Maranatha Christian Academy, where he served as Activities Director and Head Volleyball Coach. Prior to Maranatha, he served as Director of Campus Recreation at Minneapolis College and Athletic Director at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, where he focused on developing programs, mentoring coaches, and creating environments where students could thrive academically, socially, and athletically. Rongere earned a Master of Science in Sports Management from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (K–12) from North Dakota State University. He and his wife, Lisa, reside in Otsego and are the proud parents of two sons, Riley and Cody.

Annandale Public Schools is excited to welcome Drew to the Cardinal team. His passion for developing students, supporting coaches and advisors, and building strong relationships aligns closely with the district's mission of empowering learning experiences that inspire all to grow and achieve. Drew recognizes the outstanding tradition of activities already established in Annandale and is committed to partnering with students, staff, families, and the community to build upon that strong foundation as the district continues to grow.

As Activities Director, Rongere will oversee the district's comprehensive activities program, working closely with students, coaches, advisors, staff, families, and community partners to provide meaningful opportunities that empower students to grow, compete, lead, and achieve.
