Help Inspire A Love for Learning
Reflecting on the Thanksgiving holiday has me thinking about how thankful I am for our dedicated, caring and supportive staff who I have the great pleasure of working with. Our staff play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students by imparting knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and helping students develop essential skills. They dedicate their time and effort to create a positive learning environment and inspire a love for learning. They often go above and beyond to ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed. All of which I see first hand, not only as the Director of Human Resources, but also as a parent in the District.
We have a cohesive team here at Annandale Public Schools who are making a lasting impact on our students’ experiences and successes. All of whom I am very thankful for. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining our dedicated, caring and supportive team, I encourage you to visit the ISD 876 Human Resources page for more information on the hiring process and current opportunities.

Emergency Delays And School Closure Procedures
In the event of a school closure due to inclement weather or any other emergency, the first two days will be NO SCHOOL for all students. Teaching staff will use these as professional days. For closures after two days, we will utilize eLearning. Additional information regarding eLearning is available here: isd876.org/elearning
Our families will receive an email and an automated phone call from the district if there is a delay or closure. It will also post to our website and to all of the major television stations. Our goal is to try to make this decision as soon as possible to give families ample time to make arrangements. Questions or concerns can be directed to our District Office: 320.274.5602

It's beginning to feel a lot like winter...For optimal winter fun, please send the Essential 5 (hat, boots, coat, gloves, snow pants) with your child each day. The Essential 5 not only keeps students warm but when the snow comes it keeps their clothes dry and clean. Once the snow arrives, students without the Essential 5 will still be allowed outside on the paved areas. We ask that parents help reduce the lost and found inventory by labeling Essential 5 items with the student's initials, homeroom teacher, and school year (Example: 22/23 MN Weber).
Our Scholastic Book Fair was a success! We had total sales of $18,697.76. Additionally, 54 kids were selected by classroom teachers to choose a book from the book fair for free due to the Round Up Your Change Campaign, donations, and Scholastic Earnings. 37 books were donated by families to classroom teachers and AES staff purchased $600.00 dollars of books for the AES Library. We were also able to use $4,333.09 in profits to order more books. Thanks to everyone who made this book fair a huge success! We couldn't do it without you!

Youth Frontiers is facilitating a Courage Retreat on Thursday, December 14th for all our 7th graders and content area teachers at Camp Friendship. Youth Frontiers has several retreats and programs available to schools. The Courage Retreat will focus on creating a more positive school community by engaging students in a variety of activities that enhance self-confidence, empathy, and connectedness. We will have high school student volunteers from the Key Club and National Honor Society participate as small group leaders throughout the day. This will be our second year partnering with Youth Frontiers' Courage Retreat and we are very excited our students will have this opportunity again!
The morning of November 30th, AMS held their November Cardinal Cash assembly for all students. What is the Cardinal Cash assembly? Cardinal Cash assembly is a monthly opportunity to celebrate students who are demonstrating RESPECT, POSITIVE ATTITUDES, and INTEGRITY. Throughout the month and leading up to the assembly our AMS teachers submit Cardinal Cash certificates to be added into the drawing for Cardinal sweatshirts and other prizes! At the assembly we also take time to highlight our teachers through projects, special talents, and humor.

On November 30th, our College Chemistry students traveled to St. Cloud State University (SCSU) for a lab experience. This experience allows our students to visit campus and perform a lab in a college laboratory. During the lab, the students determine the concentration of various food dyes in Powerade and mouthwash using light absorption spectrums and Beer's Law. The lab/trip is a mandatory component of students earning their lab credit through SCSU.
