Cardinal Ritter High School Alumni Newsletter
August 2020
Message from the President of Cardinal Ritter
Dear Raider Alumni,

We are off to a good start at CRHS. Our students and teachers have been working hard to do everything possible to keep us in school.

It has been so great to be able to have our students in the building. We know that so many of our athletic events have had to limit attendance numbers. If you would like to purchase a ticket to a game, please check here for protocol. Please know that you can watch them live on NFHS here.

It would mean so much to our coaches if they could receive an email from a former athlete wishing them good luck in this new athletic season. Please find a list of our coaches here

I know there have been so many challenges for so many of our alumni and families. Please know that we continue to keep you all in our prayers. Please let us know if we can add you to our prayer list.

Thank you for your continued support.

God Bless,

Mrs. Hoy
Message from the President of the Alumni Association
Hello,

Welcome to our newest additions to the alumni association – the class of 2020! Whether your next step takes you around the world, across the country, or to an online or virtual class based out of your bedroom, you will always have a home at Cardinal Ritter High School. We all have experienced dramatic changes the past few months. Our experiences are as diverse as each of us, but we all share the need to be safe and healthy. As alumni we are called to show support of each other and our alma mater as well as support the school through prayer, recruitment, and financial contributions. Some ways to support can be identified easily but if you do not live nearby it can feel more difficult. With the virtual world becoming the new norm that distance doesn’t always feel so far. If you are able, please join us for our annual alumni association meeting next Tuesday! Check out the details in this newsletter!

As mentioned in the June newsletter, while it is difficult to make plans right now if your class graduation year ends in 0 or 5, it is your year for a reunion. Planning can feel a little daunting even in regular circumstances so the more help the better. There can be comfort in connections of our past so you may want to consider building up your class online community while things still feel so uncertain. If you are interested in helping plan your class reunion please contact Katie Murphy Waggoner (CR ’92), Alumni Relations and Special Events Coordinator, kwaggoner@cardinalritter.org.

This newsletter is meant to inform fellow alumni of the great things you are doing but remember we need your help in order to do so! What you have been up to? Fill us in on your travels, life experiences, achievements, volunteer work, etc. You can submit news directly at https://www.cardinalritter.org/alumni-newsletter/. If you see a former classmate too humble to toot their own horn, share it for them!

Good, Better, Best...
Whether she was hitting half-court shots or letting you know that your skirt was too short, we all have memories of this wonderful lady! When you hear Cardinal Ritter, Sr. Rita is the first person that comes to mind. Well, we want her name to be one of the first you see when walking into Cardinal Ritter High School, but we need help from you to ensure this happens. Please take a look at the proposed sketches and giving opportunities  and consider helping us honor her in this special way.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020!
We finally got to celebrate the Class of 2020 at their Commencement on Friday, July 24th on the Athletic Field. It was definitely different than what the rest of us experienced, but it will never be forgotten! Good Luck Graduates!
With masks on and chairs six feet apart, graduation will go on!
The Class of 2020 filed in and patiently waiting for the ceremony to begin.
After the turning of the tassels, we celebrated with fireworks!
WELCOME TO THE CARDINAL RITTER ALUMNI ASSOCIATION!
Raider Alumni Teachers
Angel Anderson Thomas (CR '02) is back at Cardinal Ritter, but this time as an English teacher. While at Ritter she participated in yearbook, basketball, track and field, “Helping Hands”, and Speech Team. After graduation, she went to College and graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis where she met her husband. She is now very excited to be a member of the English Department here at CRHS, and looks forward to creating new school ties.
Owen Duckett (CR '15) is in his first year of teaching Theology at his alma mater. After graduation, he spent three years at Marian University. Two of those years were spent in formation for the priesthood at Bishop Simon Bruté College Seminary. After discerning out of seminary, he spent two years working for Wilhelm Construction while finishing his Philosophy degree. Welcome Back, Owen!
