Dear Parents,

Welcome back!!!  We are so excited to welcome your students into our building this week!  Monday we welcome our 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. We begin school at 7:55 and end at 2:00.  Allow some extra time in the mornings to get your child to school on time.  Tuesday we will welcome all students in our school and we have a normal dismissal at 3:00.  Please make sure your child is on time. We want to make sure our students are receiving every opportunity to learn, and we want your children to receive the education you are paying for.

There are a few news items I want to share with you.   First we have math and English tutoring rooms on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:00 for students who need a little extra help on their homework.

With the new addition, we are asking all visitors to enter through door 1 during the school day in order to keep our students safe.  Also, please make sure you read Mr. Allard’s directions for dropping off and picking up students.  This is a little different than last year.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year and getting to know our new students this year.  Feel free to follow me on Twitter @principal_crhs if you want to see what is happening around our school.

Have a wonderful weekend!

In Christ’s Peace,

Kari Jost, Principal

Prayer for Students

Lord our God, in your wisdom and love you surround
us with the mysteries of the universe.
Send your Spirit upon these students and fill them
with your wisdom and blessings.
Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies
and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

R/. Amen.

Campus Ministry

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back! We are so excited to begin this new year together here in the campus ministry office! For those of you who may not have met me yet, my name is Claire Anderson and I am the Campus Minister here at CRHS. Our faculty and student leaders have both been on retreat and are excited to lead you in faith and service this year. Just a few things you should be aware of as we begin the year:

  • Freshmen will be going on retreat August 23 rd and 24 th . Please be on the look out for permission slips and parents, please do not schedule appointments for your students on their retreat day.

  • The seniors are in the process of reporting their preferences for senior retreat. We have four opportunities for senior retreats through out the year: Sept. 13-16, Nov. 29-Dec. 2, Feb. 21-24, and Mar. 14-17. Parents, please help your student to pick a date that works best for their schedule. We will post the lists on August 22 nd . Seniors have until August 30 th to come to with conflicts on their assigned date. No changes will be accepted after August 30 th . Students, of course can be rescheduled in case of emergencies, (i.e., getting sick, family emergency, etc.), so please help your student to remember all possible conflicts. Please do not schedule appointments or college visits over your retreat date.

  • Chapel Schedule: Please join us for prayer opportunities before school! Students who come to three or more of these events a week will be entered to win a prize!

                  * Mondays: Morning Prayer, 7:30 am

                  * Tuesdays: Mass, 7:15 am

                  * Wednesdays: Adoration, 7:30 am

                  * Thursdays: Mass, 7:15 am, Confessions during lunch

                  * Fridays: Divine Mercy Chaplet, 7:30 am

If you have questions or need to contact me, you can reach me by email (please note that it is clanderson so as not to confuse me with the English teacher!) at clanderson@cardinalritter.org or by phone (317)924-4333 ex.425.

Know that you all are always in my prayers!

"Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace in the world."
–St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

WELCOME BACK!!!

Parents and students, we are so excited to have everyone back in the building next week! As we want everyone to have a great start to the school year, here are a few policies we wanted to remind you about.

1. All students are to be dropped off on the east side of the school and enter through

door 4 to ensure student safety. No students will be admitted through any other door.

2. Students are not permitted to have visible tattoos. The administration recommends          that students not get them.

3. Cell phones, headphones, and ear buds are not permitted to be used in the academic        wing from 7:30am until dismissal. These need to be put away in backpacks or lockers      during the school day.

What a great turnout Tuesday Night for our Back To School Bash. Students were able to pick up their schedules and parking passes. Parents could get that last minute uniform or spirit wear item and purchase a season pass to all Cardinal Ritter home sporting events. The Raider Cheerleaders performed and you could fill up on all the hotdogs, popcorn and chips you wanted. A big thank you to all those who helped make this a outstanding event to kickoff the new school year!

You'll likely hear about a couple new anonymous social media apps as the school year begins.

NGL, which is short for "Not Gonna Lie", and Sendit, are both currently very popular amongst teenagers. The two apps operate in a similar manner. A link from NGL or Sendit is added to another social media platform, often Instagram Stories for teenagers, and allows followers to leave anonymous feedback. The responses then appear in the NGL or Sendit app.

These are the latest in a long string of anonymous apps, but they all have one thing in common. They are terrible for teens' mental health and safety. Anonymity encourages cyberbullying, harassment, and online predators.

Please encourage your students to avoid using all anonymous apps and to delete fake accounts.
