Dear Parents,

Cardinal Ritter is governed by a volunteer consultative Board of Directors whose

members include parents, alumni, and friends of the school who are actively engaged in

our community and deeply committed to Cardinal Ritter’s mission.

The Board provides strategic, high-level oversight of Cardinal Ritter. It does not manage

the school’s day-to-day operations. That responsibility rests with the President, whom

the Board evaluates and supports. The President, in turn, is charged with carrying out

the policies and strategic direction established by the Board and works with the principal

to lead the school’s programs, people, and daily operations.

This distinction is intentional and important. It allows the Board to remain focused on

Cardinal Ritter’s long-term health, direction, sustainability, and integrity, while giving the President and Principal the authority and flexibility needed to lead the school effectively each day.

In practice, the Board sets policy, monitors whether the school is fulfilling its mission,

and provides accountability for the highest standards of stewardship, ethics, and good

governance. Board members also have a responsibility to approach their service with a

spirit of faith, collaboration, and commitment to the students and families entrusted to

Cardinal Ritter.

We recognize that parents and members of our community may want to better

understand who serves on the Board and the important role they play in supporting

Cardinal Ritter’s mission.

Cardinal Ritter está gobernado por una Junta Directiva voluntaria y consultiva cuyos

miembros incluyen padres, exalumnos y amigos de la escuela que participan

activamente en nuestra comunidad y están profundamente comprometidos con la

misión de Cardinal Ritter.

La Junta proporciona supervisión estratégica y de alto nivel de Cardinal Ritter. No

The West Deanery Unified Catholic Schools Board of Directors was formally commissioned for service to our local Catholic Schools community last week on August 19th. Prior to their first board meeting, they gathered together for a time of prayer and a formal Commissioning Ceremony. Thank you to all new and returning board members for your leadership of our schools!

School Health Update: Introducing Our New School-Based Nurse Practitioner

We're excited to announce a new health service for our school: starting now, a nurse practitioner will be on site to support our students.

Our school nurse services—handling illnesses, injuries, medication administration, and chronic disease management—remain completely free to all students.

In addition, we now have a nurse practitioner on site who can see students much like a visit to any doctor's office: sending in prescriptions, giving vaccines, and more. These NP services are billed through insurance—100% free with Medicaid, and we bill most major insurances. Starting in October, she'll also begin offering full primary care on campus.

Between now and October, the NP will be on campus 1–2 days a week and available virtually the rest of the time. If your child needs care beyond routine school nurse services, the NP will call you to discuss whether a visit makes sense and get your consent to bill insurance.

In October, we'll also host on-campus vaccine clinics for required 6th and 12th grade vaccines, plus flu shots.

Please note: no child will ever be seen without explicit written parental consent.

Cardinal Ritter’s Service Learning Team put together an emergency donation drive to support flood victims in the Central Indiana Region. In less than 3 days, hundreds of items were donated by students and staff!

Join us for a special Grandparents’ Day liturgy on Thursday, September 10 beginning at 10:20 am in the Cardinal Ritter gymnasium.Refreshments immediately following mass.

UP COMING REUNIONS

Junior Parents -



All juniors will be taking ASVAB on Wednesday, September 2, or Thursday, September 3 at school. Testing will start right at 7:55am and it will be approximately two hours. Students will then go to class after testing is completed.  ASVAB may be one option to help students complete their graduation requirements through Graduation Pathways, if they have an interest in the military. If a score of 31 or higher is earned, it will help satisfy one pathway. Students will also be able to complete an interest inventory after their scores are received. If you have any questions regarding testing or your student's graduation requirements, please contact the guidance office.

The Indiana Latino Institute is excited to invite your students to our 15th Annual Education, College, and Career Fair in Indianapolis!

The University of Notre Dame's Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be hosting ND on the Road events in your area, and we would appreciate your help to spread the word!

These events will include information on academic, community, and spiritual life at the University of Notre Dame, as well as insights into the admissions and financial aid processes. This is a great opportunity for you, your students and their families to learn more about Notre Dame.
