Dear Parents,

This week I taped my Christmas message to the students. My message consisted of

taking time to find the joy in this Advent season. I feel that sometimes we forget the

unique opportunities that we have to see the pure joy in what is in front of us. As adults

this season is so often filled with lists, wrapping, errands, etc. It becomes easy for us to

forget the joy of the moment. We often forget among all this hustle that we are

celebrating Jesus’ coming into our world. So, my wish for you is to take time in your

busy day to look for the joy. Look to your student, your friends, your family and

embrace those moments that make this time of the year so special.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, Administration and staff Merry Christmas! We look

forward to welcoming you back in the new year.

God Bless,

Mrs. Hoy

Dear Parents,

I want to share with you a letter that I sent to all the young ladies in our building. I am imploring your help in ensuring that your student is in proper uniform when they return to school on January 6 so that your child does not miss any class time. Thank you so much for your help in teaching our young women what it means to dress modestly.

To the young women of CRHS,

I have failed you by not addressing modesty and why it matters. This has been nagging at me for a long time, so I wanted to explain to you why I need to address the current state of our uniform issues. But it is also important to me that you understand why I am addressing the lengths of skirts and shorts. The handbook states that shorts and skirts should not be more than 4 inches above the knee, but we have drifted far from the handbook’s rules. The bigger problem is that our current uniform problem of very short skirts and shorts does not match our mission and values. The Catechism reflects on modesty better than I can:

“Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons.    Modesty protects the mystery of persons and their love. It encourages patience and moderation in loving relationships. Modesty is decency. It inspires one’s choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. It is discreet. There is a modesty of the feelings as well as of the body. Modesty inspires a way of life which makes it possible to resist the allurements of improper fashion and the pressures of prevailing ideologies. Modesty exists as an intuition of the spiritual dignity proper to man. Teaching modesty to children and adolescents means awakening in them respect for the human person” (CCC 2521-2522, 2523, 2524)

If our school’s purpose is to promote our Catholic values, then our attire must match those values. If your skirt or shorts are shorter than the uniform length of 4 inches above the knee, you will need to either buy pants or buy solid black or gray tights (or leggings) to wear under your skirt or shorts. These must be solid - not opaque or translucent. This policy will be enforced when we return on January 6. You will not be allowed to go to class until you are in proper uniform. I know that this will not be a popular decision, but it is important that we uphold the integrity of our school and our mission.

In Christ’s Peace,

Mrs. Jost

Estimados padres:

In Christ’s Peace,

Mrs. Jost

E-Learning Days & Late Starts

On days when we must close school due to weather, we will notify local news stations along with sending an automated phone call for students whose parents have allowed access for this to happen.  This will also happen if we have a late start - which means school begins at 9:55.  On these days, students will still go to all classes.

On e-learning days, students will need to log in to their Google Classroom to complete work that their teachers have posted for class.  Teachers will have all work posted by 9:00 am and will be available by email until 3:00 pm to answer questions about the posted homework.  At least some part of the classwork will be due that day to serve as the student’s attendance for the day while some work will be due the next time class meets.  Teachers will not host on-line meetings - all work will be posted on Google Classroom.  We understand that students may not have the correct textbooks at home so all needed materials will be provided for students.

Semester 1 Final Exam Make Up Schedule
