Dear Parents:

Last week I had the privilege of speaking to both our teachers and board members about the direction that Cardinal Ritter must take in order to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all the students that are choosing to attend Cardinal Ritter. While we have always provided an excellent College Prep program and will continue to do so, we need to ensure that our students are prepared for what the workforce will need in the future.

Our focus will be to provide opportunities for our students in four areas. STEM education is one area of focus. In the next 5 to 7 years 75% of the jobs available will require STEM education. In order to accomplish this we will the include classes needed in order to receive certifications; such as certification as a CNA ( certified nurses assistant). These would be added to our Pharmacy Tech certification currently offered here at Cardinal Ritter. We will provide opportunities to have more meaningful internships, as well as internships that hopefully will result in summer jobs or advanced training for our students. This will also allow students to pursue high degrees in many similar fields if that is their passion. Additionally ,our Cadet Teaching program will focus on assisting students who are serious about a career in teaching by providing them a more robust Cadet Teaching experience in most of our West Deanery schools. We know that there is such a great need for teachers.

Exciting things are coming for Cardinal Ritter! So glad to have you all be a part of it.

Enjoy your Spring Break

God Bless,

Mrs. Hoy

Prayer for Students

Lord our God, in your wisdom and love you surround
us with the mysteries of the universe.
Send your Spirit upon these students and fill them
with your wisdom and blessings.
Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies
and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

R/. Amen.

Every year the Church gives us the season of Lent as a time of conversion of heart, inviting us to turn toward the Lord and be reconciled to Him. To help us in this effort we rely upon three pillars of Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving.

By increasing our time in prayer we open ourselves more fully to a personal relationship with God, who loves us and desires to be known by us. Rather than piling up words in prayer we are called to listen, to meditate, to contemplate, and to love our Lord in prayer.

By fasting, both by observing days of fast and by making other sacrifices, we remind ourselves that "man does not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God, and that for our Lord, his bread was to do the will of the one who sent him." Fasting also places us in solidarity with those who regularly do without and prompts us to increase our charity.

By almsgiving, or charitable giving, we put into practice the love and mercy that God has for each of us. By sharing of ourselves for the good of others we participate in that same self-emptying love that our Lord displayed upon the Cross.

Armed then, with prayer, fasting, and charity, let us continue our campaign of conversion and spiritual growth leading to the glory and the joy of our Lord's Resurrection at Easter.
