Distance Learning - Bellaire@Home

We are committed to continuing our practice of strong communication each week.  We have created a specific web page for parents that will hopefully serve as a one-stop-shop in terms of resources and responses to questions and concerns.  Included on that web page is our daily schedule, log-in information for all of our platforms, contact tech support form and even more. It's a great site to visit weekly for important updates.  You can access DistanceLearningBHS here

Updated FAQ for Students and Families
The FAQ that was created following Bellaire's Community Live Meeting has been updated with information for students and families.  Effort is made to update the FAQ each Friday afternoon so it is a reliable document for information.  Current updates include information on grading guidelines, STAAR exemptions, AP exams, and more. The FAQ can be accessed here

In response to the unique challenges presented by COVID-19, the Houston Independent School District is excited to announce that 100 interns will be hired to tutor students remotely.
The HISD Virtual Student Leadership Program will offer online instruction and lessons to students in need, delivered by student interns. To promote social distancing and properly plan, the focus of HISD's Summer Student Leadership Program has been shifted from in-person internships within departments to online virtual tutoring services.

Donated Food to Hospitals
Bellaire students, Bryce Liu, Omar Busaidy and Jeffrey Chuong. Jeffrey had previously gone to Bellaire HS before transferring to the Texas Academy of Math and Science (TAMS) this year. We started a nonprofit organization called Food For Heroes during this pandemic. Food For Heroes is based in Houston and is dedicated to supporting local restaurants and COVID-19 frontline workers. We coordinate deliveries with restaurants to send fresh meals to our tireless workers on the frontlines.

We're three high school friends that wanted to help out our community. As the children of healthcare workers, we understand the strain that this pandemic has caused our hospital staff. Many workers in the Houston Medical Center are working long hours everyday in the midst of this dangerous pandemic with virtually no time to get lunch or dinner. Our parents are so worried about the health of their patients and slowing the spread of COVID-19 that they often don't have time to focus on food. This story is unfortunately common among thousands of Houston nurses, PCAs, and other ICU workers during this difficult time.

We have taken it upon ourselves to order from local Houston restaurants with donations we collect for hospitals we're connected to, like Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Southwest. In the past month, we have fundraised over $4000 and donated over 100 meals.

To learn more about us, check out our website FoodForHeroesTX.org
