Japanese Culture Week
As a highlight of Japanese culture week, we invited Japanese group called Showing Japan to  demonstrate Japanese  calligraphy on Thursday.  Japanese students and club members tried to write with special Japanese  calligraphy  set.  It was great experience for students to learn culture, at the same time, gave them a chance to speak with Japanese people in Japanese!

Robotics
On Saturday, Bellaire High School's Robotics team won the Carnegie Tower Takeover VEX Robotics Tournament at Carnegie High School beating 14 other teams from local high schools. This tournament win qualifies the team to compete at the Texas State Championship in February.

Juniors-
Please use this Thanksgiving break to put in some active time preparing for SAT on Khan Academy. This is an online, self-paced guided tool to preparing for the SAT that a lot of students find beneficial. Here in the College Center, we enjoy Khan for 3 reason:

1.       IT'S FREE- All students in HISD have access for no cost!
2.       It's from College Board- College Board is the creator of both Khan Academy and the SAT, so, they are providing a FREE study guide to THEIR test!
3.       It's personalized- Khan Academy uses your previous SAT (or PSAT) score to analyze the areas of weakness that the student needs the most help in and then provides them with guided practice.

The EMERGE application is currently open to students in the class of 2022! This is an amazing program that links under represented students with top tier college options, resources, and one-one-one personal help. For more information, contact Mr. Joe Moon at  Joe.Moon@houstonisd.org .

Just like in the past, the teacher who collects the most food will receive a dessert for her/his classes!

The INHS and Leo Club members are distributing the collection boxes right now.

The Food Drive will continue until December 12, 2019.
