JROTC Outstanding Cadet Board
The HISD Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) conducted the Outstanding Cadet Board (OCB), 27 March 2021. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the OCB was conducted virtually. First to Fourth Year Cadets from 23 HISD JROTC programs competed in this prestigious event. The Board was graded in two phases: Board packets and Board proceedings. Board packets were carefully screened and graded based on scholastics (overall GPA), demonstrated leadership skills in the school, community involvement and extracurricular activities. Board proceedings consisted of uniform appearance, military courtesy, oral presentation, knowledge of current events, knowledge of geography and an evaluation of first aid techniques.

During the first phase of results, Cadets were narrowed down to 24 Cadets which included a meritorious promotion. The final phase placed all 24 Cadets in positions based on results. Top position has four slots at the Corps level – each slot for each respective year Cadet. Out of the four top slots, three of the four BHS Army JROTC Cadets that competed earned three Corps slots.
Mighty Cardinal Congratulations to Jake Ridenbaugh (4th year) – Christian Olguin (3rd year) – Joshua De La Fuente (2nd year) – Jason Baez (1st year).
