Volleyball
Last Monday, the Haynes Yellow Jackets buzzed into the Rosary Gym to play the Cardinals. The Haynes JV team had some very tough jump servers, and they caused all sorts of problems for the Cardinals' serve receive. That, coupled with some confusion while trying a new line-up, led to a 25-15, 25-17 defeat for the ASH JV squad. There were a few bright spots. Mary Elise Meyer ’24, Natalia Mehaffie ’25, Claire Moriarty ’25 and Kate Farris ’24 all had aces in the match. Bria Egana ’25, Ellie Bendich ’24 and Lily Stone ’24 each had a kill as well. It was a tough learning experience for the Cardinals, which reminded them of the importance of the first contact quality when facing a good serving team. On Tuesday, the De La Salle Cavaliers came to Rosary Gym. The Cardinals came out strong in the first game on the strength of five aces from their first server, Lily Stone ’24. They kept their foot on the gas and finished the first set with a 25-5 win. In the second game, the all-freshmen squad took the floor. Charlotte Bush ’25 had three aces and caused numerous serve receive disruptions. Also contributing to the serving barrage were Evelyn Monstead ’25, Callie Parenton ’25 and Taylor Robert ’25 with three aces of their own. The final score was also 25-5.

The ASH JV kept their level of play high throughout the match and kept errors to a minimum, missing only two serves all match. The ASH JV now goes into the last week of their season with an upcoming match against Newman.
