Important - Prep Winter Sports Registration
|
In order to prepare our staff and begin our scheduling process, we need to have accurate numbers in each sport. Please take a second to register your daughter for 5th-8th soccer and/or basketball. This is mandatory, and your daughter may not be able to join a team without prior registration. Both sports will begin in mid-November and will continue through the month of January. Practice days have not been determined yet. If you have any questions, please contact Associate Athletic Director Lanie Victory at [email protected].
Deadline to register is Wednesday, November 4.

Volleyball Honors Seven Seniors
Last Monday, the JV and varsity teams hosted Belle Chasse in the battle of the Cardinals. Sacred Heart played very well and came away, and JV started it off with a 25-10, 25-10 victory. Leading the way for the JV Cardinals were Brooke Habetz ’23 and Paige Ready ’23, who combined for six aces. Kate Farris ’24, Allie Langhetée ’23, Ellie Bendich ’24, and Lily Stone ’24 had some big kills as well. Providing steady passing and defense were Cecile Thomas ’23 and Lucy Vaicius ’23. Next, the varsity would also secure a win in four games by a score of 25-17, 24-26, 25-13, 25-15. Lindsey Magaw ’21 had 24 kills, and May Manning ’21 added 20 kills. Cami Davis ’23 and MC Mazzanti ’23 both had eight kills, and Marian Graffignini ’22 had four kills. Bailey Axelrad ’21 and Cat Bonura ’22 had our team high digs, and Elizabeth Maniscalco ’21 led the team with aces. Kate Ready ’22 came in with an added spark too.
On Tuesday, Northlake Christian visited Sacred Heart for the last regular season match of the season. The JV Cardinals battled back and forth with their opponent. The first set was a very tight game. The score was 21-18 in favor of Sacred Heart when Kate Farris ’24 went back to serve. She proceeded to record four straight aces to close out the game 25-18. The second game started much the same way until the Cardinal serving started to create scoring opportunities for the hitters. They proceeded to win the second set by the same score as the first set 25-18. Allie Langhetée ’23 and Claire Vanderbrook ’23 each tallied six big kills for the match, and Mary Elise Meyer ’24 added four crucial kills as well. It was a solid match and a great ending to a fun JV season as the squad finished at 10-5. Kudos to Lucy Vaicius ’23, who finished the season without a missed serve, a very impressive accomplishment.
Varsity followed with an emotional match as it was Senior Night for seven special seniors. The Cardinals found their rhythm winning in three games straight against Northlake Christian, 25-9, 25-14, 25-10. Riley Brennan ’21 hobbled in with a sprained ankle and had two aces. Isabella Guarisco ’21 had some great passes and digs, and also had 4 kills. Elizabeth Maniscalco ’21 had five aces and some great assists and digs. May Manning ’21 and Lindsey Magaw ’21 both had 10 kills. Bailey Axelrad ’21 set the tempo for the offense and defense. Marian Graffignini ’22 and Cat Bonura ’22 played hard for their seniors. Isabella Erazo ’22 had a nice serving run for us. Cami Davis ’23 and MC Mazzanti ’23 each had five kills for the evening.
Thank you seniors for all of your hard work, commitment and dedication to the volleyball program. You have made a lasting impression on Sacred Heart Volleyball, and you will be greatly missed!
