Cross Country Earns Another Victory
It was a cold 40 degrees this past Saturday in Hammond at the 10th Annual STA Bruce Okrepki Cross Country Invitational held at St. Thomas Aquinas. Although a very small meet with the number of entrants only at 43 runners, the Sacred Heart varsity team still performed up to their abilities and raced the course and took home yet another victory.
Olivia McGoey

got out to an early lead by the first 200 meters of the 3 mile race and ran completely alone for the entire race. She tied her personal best record of
19:08
to capture the individual champion title by over 42 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She is looking stronger every race and is really just learning how to race against her inner clock.

once again fed off of each other during most of the race and it was not until the last 400 meters where Gaines found a little extra this time and pushed slightly ahead and they both ran excellent times of

.
CC Johnson

in her first 3 mile of the season, ran a very controlled race and found herself with a new personal record of
21:12
, which puts her in the mix of runners fighting for a spot in two weeks to represent her team and school at the State Championships.
Olivia Boyd
