Tennis Sweeps Country Day
Last week before Easter Break, the Cardinals played Country Day at UNO. Playing the singles lines were Virginia Crocker ʼ25 and Olivia Boyd ʼ22. They both quickly and easily won their lines 6-0, 6-0. The Cardinals had similar success on the doubles courts. The duo playing line 1 doubles for the Cardinals was May Manning ʼ21 and Cat Bonura ʼ22. Although this was the first match the two had played together, they looked like they had been playing as partners for a while. Their doubles match was a similar score to the singles lines. The two athletes had great chemistry together and played tough to get the job done. The senior doubles team of Grace Evans ʼ21 and Gracie Jenkins ʼ21 also took care of business and showed the Cajuns how their years of experience partnering together paid off. The young team of Emmeline Singer ʼ26 and Maria English ʼ24 rounded out the win and the sweep with another 6-0, 6-0 victory. The future is bright for these two Cardinals, already getting many match experiences for the season.
The tennis team also celebrated their nine seniors before the Ursuline match yesterday. They were able to capture a win on senior night. Stay tuned for a recap of yesterday’s match in next week’s Cardinals' Corner. Congratulations, seniors! We are very proud of you! The regular tennis season is coming to a close, and post season play begins on Monday April 19 with the Regional tournament at UNO. Let’s go, Cardinals!
