Cardinals Corner | Edition 7 | October 3, 2019
Dear Families,

As many of you know, our 5 th  Graders embarked on their annual excursion to Camp Kappe, the Archdiocesan Youth Retreat facility this week to focus on environmental education.

What is Camp Kappe? And why do we go there?

The School of Environmental Education (S.E.E.) is a program of Camp Kappe. The mission of the School of Environmental Education at Camp Kappe is to “bridge the gap between science and faith by providing youth a greater understanding of their role in the stewardship of God’s creation and its ties to
their spiritual and academic growth.”

Our fifth grade students spend four days living on site at the Camp Kappe in Plantersville, Texas.  During their ‘classes’ at the pond, along the creek, or on a night hike in the meadow, the students gather an understanding of God’s gift of Providence. By the close of the week, students have an even greater understanding of their responsibility as good Stewards of all that God has provided for us.

Students also continue to grow in their spiritual formation through daily prayer experiences and liturgical celebrations each day. In all, the Camp Kappe experience assists our youth in their growth as disciples in the faith.

We are looking forward to the return our 5th graders on Friday. In the meantime, please enjoy a few photos of our students straight from nature.

Special thanks to our chaperones, Mr. Beckham, Mr. Fisher, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Hatem as well!

Yours in Service,

Bernadette L. Drabek
