A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
|
|
We are grateful this week went so smoothly, despite a thorough rain provided by Tropical Storm Beta.
This week, your 1st - 8th grade students took the IOWA Benchmark Assessment in English and Mathematics. While PK 3- Kindergarten student assessments occur in the classroom with their teachers, the IOWA assessments help teachers identify a student’s strengths and identify areas that may need additional emphasis. The results produce information that enables sound decision making and provides a focus for teachers to adjust their instruction.
In other words, the results of these assessments inform our lessons and curriculum for the year and help us prepare your child for their next step on the educational path.
These tests are a measure of where your child is – not a defining assessment. I look forward to the results so we can continue to meet and serve the needs of all our students.
While the benchmark testing took place this week, another benchmark test will take place next semester and our full IOWA Assessments of all subjects will take place in April. This allows us to meet your child where he/she is and give them the best education possible. I have complete faith our students will show us their best – they always have.
Questions about IOWA testing? Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at the front office. We are always here.
Yours in service,
Bernadette Lombardo Drabek, M Ed.
