A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Cardinal Families,

Cardinal DiNardo said it best when he stated, “Friends, this is unlike any other start of the academic school year than we have ever had before.” Please listen to his opening message to celebrate those in Catholic education.

Personally, I cannot express my own gratitude to this amazing team of faculty and staff members here at St. Rose of Lima. Rest assured, we have asked a lot from our team and they have delivered. They have put COVID procedures in place, they are teaching remote and in-person learners at the same time and they are balancing schedules, lunches and lack of space in an amazing fashion.

A number of our faculty are celebrating milestone years serving Catholic Schools, and I would like to recognize them today as well:
Mrs. Sadler - 5 years
Mrs. Badalac - 5 years
Mr. Miller - 5 years
Mrs. Tellier - 10 years
Mrs. Langley - 15 years

I will remind you of our word for the year – HOPE! Hope for the new educational building to open soon. Hope to continue to keep our students safe. Hope that in a blink of an eye all of our students will return home. Hope that the future looks bright for our entire community.

Keep the faith,

Mrs. Drabek
MIDDLE SCHOOL CELEBRATES SIXTH GRADE BIBLE MASS & LIGHTSHINE

This morning, 6th Grade students and new Middle School students were welcomed to Middle School, alongside their parents, teachers and friends by receiving a Bible at Thursday Mass.

Following Mass, all Middle School students attended Lightshine, a school and faith led guidance program aimed at service and the community at large. Students discussed ways to help their neighbors, creating a few signs and rocks with inspirational messages on them to be placed at The Orchard - Garden Oaks, our neighbors at the nearby 55 & over community.
Finally, the Middle School Leaders of our School -Wide Houses have been named!
Congratulations:

House Bravery: Charles A. & Gia F.
House Creativity: Kaitlyn A. & Victorio S.
House Stewardship: Aiden S. & Clara M.
House Truth: Jackson S. & Julianne T.
House Wisdom: Lauren C. & Kaiden D.

May the Best House Win!
A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Thanks to everyone that participated in the 2019-2020 St. Rose of Lima Annual School Survey. More than 170 of our school parents completed the survey helping to identify areas where St. Rose excels and areas that need consideration. Each of the areas touched on by the survey are important and necessitate continued review, but based on the survey results there were three topics that warranted further attention; communication, access to administration and diversity/inclusiveness.

School administration improved communication by implementing the IRIS (Immediate Response Information System) application which allows for direct communications to parents via email and text. Additional actions to address both communication and access to administration include increasing visibility and access to Mrs. Drabek and Mrs. Tellier at pick-up and drop-off, reinforcing availability in Cardinal’s Corner, promoting availability at open meetings, meeting with all parents that make a request, and making personal visits to families during the COVID quarantine. School administration has also put into place and promoted awareness of additional internal organizations to assist with management of parent concerns (i.e. School Advisory Committee and Parent Teacher Organization) so issues can be addressed and resolved in a timely manner. To encourage diversity and inclusiveness, the school has instituted a message of “All Are Welcome” along with maintaining a diverse faculty and staff.

School administration, along with the support of SAC, will continue to evaluate the implementation of these efforts to ensure St. Rose of Lima Catholic School exceeds expectations. The goal of the yearly survey is to provide information to the school to help promote constant improvement at St. Rose of Lima. Your continued support in this endeavor is appreciated.

The 2020-2021 St. Rose of Lima Annual School Survey will be distributed the week of November 2, 2020. Please be on the lookout. Your responses to this year’s school survey will provide valuable input to gauge the success of the above actions.
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PTO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Please send your words of wisdom, prayer, special quote, etc. to WeLoveSRL2020@gmail.com. PTO will monitor the account, print the messages and have them posted in the breezeway for all teachers, staff and students to enjoy! Also, we welcome special drawings or pictures as well! Feel free to send those in with your child to school and they will be given to the office to add to the display.

Thank you Cardinal Families, for all of your support!
