A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

In a year of such change, there are bound to be a few bumps in the road.

We are blessed to enjoy a sense of profound community at St. Rose of Lima, a community that extends far beyond the gates of our campus, the doors of our church, the threshold of the food pantry, and into the Garden Oaks community.

As COVID 19 protocols and procedures change with each day, we know that our current pick up and drop off processes may currently be cumbersome, but even today these processes are better than yesterday. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to improve in daily.

In support of our surrounding community, we ask for your consideration for local residents that may be inconvenienced by our newest policies, particularly at The Orchard – Garden Oaks, the 55 - and- over community and our neighbor on Brinkman. Please be sure to not block their drives as you wait to pick up your students. Our Middle School Students are beginning to focus on this effort this year.

As a reminder, the pick-up times for each child is as follows. Please arrive at the start of your students pick up window and not before. This allows for a more organized line and a streamlined process. No walk or bike drop-offs/pick ups are permitted at this time.

PK3, PK 4 and Kinder Drop Off/Pick Up: 8 AM/3PM

1st – 5th Grade Drop Off/Pick Up: 7:45 AM/3:15 PM

Middle School Students Drop Off/Pick Up: 7:30 AM/3:30 PM

As a final reminder, Middle School will conclude its canned food drive tomorrow, September 4. Thank you again for your vital support for this student – led initiative and for helping us be kind neighbors!

My best,

Bernadette Drabek, M Ed
Class of 1975
A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

DID YOU KNOW...

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School welcomed many New Cardinal Families to campus this Fall. While many of our newest Cardinals are siblings of older students, it is wonderful to welcome these families who are brand new to campus.

In the coming weeks, the School Advisory Committee will be reaching out to each of these new Cardinal families in an effort to properly welcome all to St. Rose of Lima and answer any lingering questions.

What is the SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC)?

SAC is a committee created to advise the pastor and principal to identify and recommend policy to guide the educational needs, goals, and aspirations of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and the School Community. SAC is an advisory board - it does not create policies or curriculum but instead consults on them. This committee is currently 10 members strong with each serving a 3 year term. New members are added via a discernment process every February/March. SAC meetings occur on the first Tuesday of each month with the exception of July and December and are open to the community with advance notice to discuss current issues, thoughts, and ideas.

What can the SAC do for you?

This committee serves as a liaison between you and the pastoral/school administration. You are encouraged to bring issues, questions, ideas and feedback to this committee by reaching out to the president or vice-president. We want to hear from you! Together we can bring awareness, strengthen communication and continue to build a community unlike any other.

Please mark your calendar for the 2nd Annual “Drive Through” Backpack Blessing hosted by SAC on October 4th (following 10 AM mass).

We hope we can serve as a resource to all of our families.
For more information, including members of SAC, please visit the school website here.
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PTO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - REMINDER

As we begin a new school year, one that is certainly different than we have seen in the past, we wanted to start a “Words of Affirmation Wall” for our teachers and staff in addition to the ribbons. The point of the wall is to show that while we cannot physically be on campus to support our school, we are here for them and we are thankful for all they are doing!

Please send your words of wisdom, prayer, special quote, etc. to WeLoveSRL2020@gmail.com. PTO will monitor the account, print the messages and have them posted in the breezeway for all teachers, staff and students to enjoy! Also, we welcome special drawings or pictures as well! Feel free to send those in with your child to school and they will be given to the office to add to the display.

Thank you Cardinal Families, for all of your support!
