Welcome new Board members!

We are pleased to welcome Heather Robertson White, MD with Novant Health and Jomaira White, LMSW, CAS, founder of Rooted Hearts Ministries to our Board of Directors. Dr. White will bring her expertise in healthcare and ob/gyn care and Jomaira will bring her experience with community engagement.

Welcome new NFP-CAB member!

We are pleased to welcome Gregg Kiehl with RSM US to our Nurse-Family Partnership Community Advisory Board. Gregg formerly served as our Board of Directors Chair from 2008-2014 and is passionate about maternal-child health.

Thank you Mark!

We'd also like to thank our long-serving Board member and Past Chair, Mark Markiewicz, with Wells Fargo. During his tenure, Mark provided valuable contributions of his time, talent and treasure to our operations and financial stability, ensuring our organization would maintain a steady stream of growth while not compromising the quality of our services. We wish him well in his future endeavors and thank him for his service.

New funder: Springsteen Foundation

We were delighted to connect with a new funding partner, the Springsteen Foundation. They provided a generous gift of $50,000 for us to use where needed most. The Springsteen Foundation was established by Derick Springsteen Close (pictured), former Carolina Panthers investor and son of Anne Springs Close. The foundation's grantmaking is facilitated by Foundation For The Carolinas.

Philanthropists Herb & Felicia Gray bring holiday cheer to hundreds of families

Care Ring's maternal child health programs were the beneficiary of Charlotte philanthropists' Herb and Felicia Gray's annual holiday "party with a purpose." The Grays donated $10,000 in proceeds to provide developmental toys, which were given away at our Seasonal Stroll in December. Over 500 guests were in attendance, including the Grays and their daughter (pictured), who enjoyed meeting and speaking with the families. WCNC covered the event in a story. The Grays also blessed some of the mothers in our Nurse-Family Partnership program with a shopping spree at Target, which they also attended.

Upstream partnership improves reproductive health access, care

Our Low-Cost Clinic has partnered with Upstream USA to improve our reproductive healthcare services. The team recently began implementing the various strategies they learned and look forward to delivering an even higher standard of care for our patients.

"Care Ring, in partnership with Upstream USA, is committed to expanding access to contraception as a part of its Low-Cost Clinic's primary care services. Guided by the goal to increase patient choice and autonomy, all Clinic staff participated in Upstream's training on foundational contraceptive best practices, patient-centered counseling, and avoiding bias and coercion. Care Ring implemented a Pregnancy Intention Screening Question into their clinical workflow, integrated education materials on the full range of methods, and will be evaluating the success of implementing the Upstream initiative through data collection and continuous quality improvement. We aim to empower patients to decide if and when they want to become pregnant by ensuring they are appropriately screened and have access to the full range of contraceptive services," said Brielle McKay, Upstream Practice Transformation Lead.

First families graduate from AGJ

A Guided Journey (AGJ) recently celebrated its first graduation for the families in the program, with a cute jungle theme. There were 36 families who completed the program and 10 families and their guests who joined us for the celebration.

Thank you to Healthy Blue NC for sponsoring, as well as Mecklenburg County Public Health's Kim Scott, Keila Marlin & Kimberly Sullivan for attending to cheer on our graduates; and thanks to our team of Community Health Workers who planned and executed this great party. For all the oh-so-cute pictures, check out our gallery (pics by Daniel Coston photography).

Welcome our new Physicians Reach Out providers!

These providers have recently joined PRO and generously agreed

to donate care to our patients this year.

DID YOU KNOW: Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Current estimates are that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. We are grateful to be able to offer this important care to our PRO patients.

Thank you to our Media Partners who did stories about our work recently.

Volunteer with Care Ring's newest initiative, Healthy Start

Care Ring has been chosen to implement a federal program called Healthy Start in Mecklenburg County. We are looking for individuals who are invested in achieving a shared goal: creating an environment that supports maternal, infant, and family health and well-being - to join our Consortium, which meets monthly. If interested, please complete our Participation Survey and a staff member will reach out to you.

Volunteer with Physicians Reach Out (you don't even have to be a physician!)

Our PRO program could use some support with administrative tasks, such as following up with applicants, assisting with processing renewals, and more. Spanish-speaking volunteers are particularly needed. Submit a volunteer interest form or reply to this email with questions.

For more information on volunteering with us, check out our website.

For projects you can do at home that would benefit our patients, check out our Share Charlotte profile.

Please support these businesses who support us.

Welcome new Corporate Champions!

We are pleased to have recently added two new Corporate Champions - Carolina Asthma & Allergy Center at the Healthy Family Level, and HopeStar Foundation at the Healthy Neighbor Level.

We deeply appreciate their investment and belief in our mission.

THANK YOU TO OUR CIVIC CHAMPION

Care Ring is grateful for the extremely generous funding from Mecklenburg County government and its citizens as a trusted provider for our neighbors facing the challenges of poverty who need access to medical care and supportive maternity care.
