Parishioner flu shots will be available in Sumners Hall (with lots of social distancing and mask wearing). There will also be a drive-through option outside Doris Sumners Hall for those with mobility issues or who do not wish to leave their cars (Email Susan Davis to reserve a drive through time slot).

Cost and Payment
There is a $26 cost for the regular flu shot and $60 for the “seniors” high dose for those 65 years and older. Insurance that will be accepted include Medicare (traditional plan), United HealthCare, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO of Texas, Aetna TRS (Active Care I, Active Care II), and Aetna TRS (POS I and POS II). Cash and Visa or MasterCard Debit/Credit cards are accepted.

In order to expedite the vaccination process please bring a copy of your insurance or Medicare card with you. Write your name, birthday, address and telephone number on that copy to leave with us. If you have questions, please contact Susan.
Houston's Mobile Stroke Unit - Saving Lives by Reversing Strokes and Preventing Brain Damage

Join us for a virtual presentation by Dr. James Grotta, a vascular neurologist with over 40 years experience pioneering stroke research and treatment. He will tell us more about the Memorial Hermann Foundation's Houston Mobile Stroke Unit and how we can each benefit from recognizing the signs of stroke and acting quickly. Faster treatment results in better outcomes, especially if given within the first “golden” hour.

In 2014, Houston became the first city in the nation to have an MSU. In collaboration with the Houston Fire Department EMS and all stroke centers in Houston, the Houston MSU serves the entire community, not just a single hospital or healthcare system.

Amazing Meals from Amazing Place

A convenient and healthy meal option is now available for pick up or delivery from our ministry partners at Amazing Place. Order by noon on Friday, for pickup or delivery the following Thurs-Fri, 9 am - 2 pm.

Open to everyone! Cost per meal is $10. Delivery cost is $10. A new menu is posted each week, all menu items are fully cooked, and can be stored in a freezer for up to four months. These meals are made from fresh, locally sourced and processed ingredients, including chicken that is antibiotic and steroid free. Even the baked goods made using organic coconut sugar and 100% whole wheat grown in Texas. Memory Preservation Nutrition Meals incorporate the findings of over 700 brain-health related research studies and is based on 6 core principles: increase Omega-3s, reduce inflammation, increase amount and variety of anti-oxidants reduce insulin resistance, increase B, D and E vitamins and reduce amounts of oxidation of LDL cholesterol. The same tasty meals that have been available to participants in the Amazing Place day program can now be ordered to enjoy at home.

Amazing Place's Virtual Memory Training Classes

Attend this fun interactive 4 week virtual training program via Zoom. The goal is to improve memory and develop good memory habits that can be applied to real life situations.

Our 4-week Memory Training Program was designed by Gary Small, M.D., and Linda Ercoli, PhD, of the UCLA Longevity Center. You’ll learn tips for remembering names and faces; recalling appointments, messages and plans; avoiding misplacing objects; and overcoming the “tip of the tongue” memory slips. Nine out of 10 participants in our program report improvements in their memory. The course is not intended for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.

Four series of classes for this virtual training from 10 am to 11:30 am through the fall:
Fridays in Oct. (2, 9, 16, 30th)
Mondays in Nov. (2, 9, 16, 23rd)
Tuesdays in Dec. (1, 8, 15, 22nd)
