Career Move Prompts Boise School District Trustee Andy Hawes to Announce Resignation in June 2023

Boise, ID -- 05/08/2023 -- Boise School District Trustee Andy Hawes announced tonight he will be moving to Gig Harbor, Washington this summer and that he will resign from the Board of Trustees in June. Trustee Hawes made the announcement during the Board & Superintendent Comments portion of the agenda.

“I love Boise. I love our schools. I also love my job,” said Trustee Hawes. “I will be moving to Seattle late summer as a result of a job relocation and I intend to submit a formal board resignation at the June Board meeting. The advance notice is to give the Board plenty of time to plan for the appointment process, as well as give me the opportunity to express my appreciation for those I have been fortunate enough to work with in my capacity as Trustee.”

Trustee Hawes was appointed by the Board in April of 2021. He was elected to a four-year term in September 2022 with 70% of the vote. As a Trustee, Mr. Hawes played key roles in the District’s Community Relations and Communication efforts, including the creation and implementation of the Board’s Student Advisory Committee.

“There’s plenty of work for me to do in the next few weeks,” said Trustee Hawes. “Graduations are just around the corner and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming review of the District’s Strategic Plan and Budget.”

More information regarding the appointment process for a new Trustee will be available following the Board of Trustees official acceptance of the resignation in June.
