June 2022
News for students, families and friends
Full of Pride
I spend a great deal of time with Career Tech students and staff, and the feeling of pride is no stranger to me. But this year has been especially gratifying as I've seen our young people thrive and succeed following a couple of very challenging years. Congratulations to our students, their families, and their teachers and local schools for their many impressive accomplishments, commitment to hard work, and good citizenship. Please take a moment to enjoy just a handful of our many student accomplishments below.

I look forward to following the success stories of our students well into the future.

Respectfully,
Pat Lamb
Assistant Superintendent of Career & Technical Education

Poetry with Heartbeats, Screams and Crackles
Career Tech Writers Studio students recently learned audio poetry, enhancing their written and spoken poetry with sound effects. With the help of Juliet Hinely, a Ypsilanti-based, award-winning freelance story producer and sound designer, the students learned how to add sound clips to their written work as an extra layer to enrich a listener's experience.

“This project encapsulated many technical skills, conceptual development, editorial decisions -- and those kinds of skills are applied to any kind of audio work,” Hinely said, mentioning audio journalists, podcasters and screenwriters as examples.
