Join us for online caregiver fellowship this week of July 27th - July 31st
The Edel Caregiver Institute has gone online and now offers three types of support groups to assist with your specific caregiving needs, Anticipatory Grief, Dementia Caregiving, and Caregiver Fellowship . There is no charge to be a part of our open groups and all three offer opportunities to share and be heard, as well as to listen and support. Perhaps you’re not comfortable sharing in a group? We also offer individual consultations via phone or online meeting.

MONDAY ... July 27th at 1:00pm
What is Anticipatory Grief and why is there a caregiver support group for it?
Many caregivers experience shock and anxiety when they are first confronted with a serious medical diagnosis for their loved one. As their loved one's condition progresses, caregivers experience a series of losses, and feelings of sadness, as their loved one loses abilities they once had. All of these feelings and experiences are symptoms of anticipatory grief.

WEDNESDAY ... July 29th at 11:00am
Are You Caring for a
Loved One Living with Dementia?
Whether you are caring for your loved one at home or they reside in a facility, the stress of caring for a loved one with dementia, especially during this time, can be overwhelming with uncertainty.

From the comfort of your own home, you are invited to fellowship with other caregivers sharing your concerns, struggles, and questions. This group is for family caregivers of a loved one with dementia or memory issues only.

Individual Dementia Caregiver Consultations Available
Are you caring for a loved one with dementia and find yourself blocked and frustrated because you don't know what to do and how to do it when it comes to relating and communicating. Do you wonder why what you both want is not happening?

Learn to anticipate the struggles and how to be better prepared. Recognize your loved one's point of view, understand where they are coming from, comprehend the grieving of loss that comes with dementia, and develop a better understanding of what is possible and what is not.

Jill Costello is a Certified Dementia Consultant under Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care and is available for individual caregiver consultations. CLICK HERE for more information.

FRIDAY ... July 31st at 10:00am
Non-Disease Specific Caregiver Fellowship
Via facilitated online meetings, this is an opportunity to meet and share with other caregivers seeking emotional support and a necessary sense of community with like-minded people. This group is non-disease specific to encourage caregivers to focus on their own concerns and circumstances.

Restorative Yoga online via ZOOM!
ECI is pleased to announce that our volunteer yoga instructors, Marcia Berens and Franessa Stalter, are continuing their wonderful Restorative Yoga classes via ZOOM.

The weekly day and time remain the same as before: Thursdays at 9:30am – 10:30am.

If your loved one is not under Hospice Savannah care, please call 912-355-2289 for information.
Has your loved one's chronic illness become more than you can handle yourself?
As caregivers, many of you on a daily basis are stressed, frustrated, and even overwhelmed with caring for your loved one. While this has perhaps become an unwelcomed “normal”, it doesn’t have to be.
Extra help is available, not only for you, the caregiver, but help for your loved one as well.

COVID-19 is most serious for those with an advanced illness such as CHF, COPD, or Alzheimer’s dementia.
The risk of infection dramatically increases if they go to a crowded ER or waiting room.
Let’s not allow that to happen.

If a loved one, friend, or neighbor has an advanced illness including COVID-19 symptoms, calling Hospice Savannah first will connect them to safe, home-based care with no out of pocket expense.
